Rot resistant rope/cable??

Hi all - I realize that this may be a stupid question but here goes anyway.

Will nylon rope rot if it gets wet occasionally?? I need something like a rope approx. 150' long that will last as long as possible and is also flexible enough to go through 90 degree turns.

I've been using the same lengths of nylon rope as painters on my canoe for the last 10 years and they haven't rotted or noticably weakened yet.

If the nylon doesn't work out, there's always steel cable. I know it comes with anti-rust coatings.

I put a nylon clothesline rope in a tree for the kids swing. The kids all got married and the limb died, but the rope was still hanging in there strong.

water will not degrade nylon - sunlight will

Thanks all - these ropes will be in underground tubes where they might get damp occasionally from condensation. But *no* sunlight!! So they should be ok.
