Hornet problem

We have a beautiful stand of red raspberries that are almost ready to pick. Unfortunately hornets are nesting somewhere in the canes and we can't see where. I don't know if they are in the ground or in the branches and we can't see it. I do know they are vicious and aggressive. Does anyone have suggests about getting rid of the hornets? I hate the idea of missing out on the berries.

Sorry but if you can't find the nest itself there's not much way to get rid of it. Which sucks.

You can buy a hornet trap or make one out of an old milk bottle.

I don't think they would all be caught in time to harvest those berries though.

I would go out at night wearing long pants with the legs taped shut when they are quiet and slowly walk through the area with a strong flashlight and search the ground for the nest. There should be some hornets in the opening.

You would have to identify the type of hornet first. Are they yellow jackets, bald faced hornets, papernest wasps, etc? Once you've identified them you know where to look for a nest. Yellow-jackets usually nest in the ground. Bald faced hornets nest in those big nests hanging in trees. Paper nest wasps are the ones usually found in long idle cars and overhangs on houses.
