We have snow in the mountains already. I have enough hay up but still have one field to get in before it snows here. We have had record cold and rain the last two weeks.

I'm preparing the barn now. Almost have my waterer completed. Then I have to tarp and they should be ok. I'm worried about frost bite is all.

I am ready, we had a great winter. It was a little cooler than normal but the number of clear days more than made up for it, we used a lot less wood last winter. A little rain early for a good start on the grass and then dryer than normal. Good rains after the start of the new year. I also put in a small electric heater in the fan duct, it uses the extra power from the micro hydro system, after the batteries are charged. Pushes the heat with the heat collected in the tray ceiling of the airlock entry back to the bedroom or living area as needed on cloudy cold days....James

No. Bill that's just plain mean to mention/remind us of that in August. LOL last winter wasn't to bad, like James said used a bit less wood but the minus 40 temps without snow was hard on a lot of plants.

Been feeling my squirrel mode trying to kick in - Ya know the gotta get it done mode?

I put 2" thick Styrofoam around the bottom of my mobile home. The chickens think it's fun to peck it so I have a few pieces to replace.

Some windows need recovering with the heat shrink plastic film.

I would like to put another coat of elastomeric roof coating on.

Have another cord of wood to split and stack. Looks like this coming week will be cool enough to do that.

Got to fix the ice fishing house where I ripped out the tow attachments while trying to drag it across the lake last winter.

Fooey on you for reminding me winter's coming.

For crying out loud, quit swearing! There are people here who object to the use of the "W" word.

Well, we have the whole house this year instead of just the 40x40 room we had last year, so we will be happy with whatever. haha. Have our new kitchen queen wood stove and now have water at the animal pens. This year has to be better for us personally no matter what the weather does. The only thing I will be worried about this year is water pipes in the crawlspace and not having ductwork. Plan to get it ready soon.

I saw a V of geese the other night flying south.

Thought maybe I just wash my fingers off with soap after I typed that.

Am I ready for winter?
Well let's see....
sunglasses...check
short sleeve shirts...check
shorts...check
Yep I'm ready.
The funny thing is as much as some of y'all want to be down here I want to be up there just as bad.

No way am I ready. We got so much snow last year and cold weather. My bones just can't take it, but this is where I live so I have to deal with it. I haven't even gotten any canning or dehydrating done yet. There is so much to do around here. We have a new grandbaby due in December also. It sure is going to be a busy winter for us.

Still prepping, but our Winter prediction was for higher temps and less snow. DH is building our utility cabin and fixing our furnace (motorhome). Once he has completed those jobs, he will be winterizing our motorhome.
