roma maters

has anyone planted large roma tomatoes this year and last and ended up with a bunch of grap size ones,and if so does anyone no why this is?

Mine aren't grape size but they are smaller than normal, I think it's due to the cool weather.

IF, mine are different in size, and im NOT sure they are, they COULD be a hair smaller, but that's all, any

Yes! And not only for us, but for another who was selling them at the market. He started telling me about how he bought Roma plants and ended up with these tiny, teardrop shaped tomatoes instead. The same exact thing happened here.

The good news is, I ran them through the food strainer and those little guys had almost no water and I got a lot more meat to can than I expected. I saved some seeds to grow some more next year.

I've also gotten very small roma tomatoes this year - but they're real meaty and taste great!

Next year you might try Amish Paste. Most of them will be shaped like a Roma, but much larger. Almost all meat, great for canning. And yes, they're heirloom.

Do you think it might be a problem with the seed? Like, some large seed supplier bred a bad batch of roma but just didn't know it?

Could be. I got mine as small plants from a local green house.I havent got much production out of it either.But hey they are meaty.
