Buying 5 acres off my cousin in Ontario

It's not unorganized land, and we both agreed on $16k, what is the cheapest way, for us both, to exchange the land? ImageUploadedByHomesteading Today1408739085.372342.jpg

The cheapest way to do a decent job is to call a lawyer you can both agree on, sign a waiver so they can represent you both, and get it done. You still want a title search, insurance, etc just in case

Back in 1976 when I was a lot younger I bought this place on a land contract.
Someone suggested I go to a title company but they wanted $80 and told me part of it had to be done by an attorney. They named two so I went to one of them and their part would be another $75.
Then that lawyer said he would do it all for $100.
Deal made.
I used him three other times with great results.
He is retired now but he really knew a lot about titles and land deals.

Where do you live now? - there was a time that I was thinking of buying land in Ontario - looked around quite a bit - but then decided not to - if the land is in the north you got to find out about mineral rights - then there is the bugs - and the liberal laws in Ontario - so I decided to buy a camper instead and visit Ontario whenever I wanted to - no outlay of cash for the land - no taxes - and not tied down to one location - I travel all over the place - what you gonna do with 5 acres of bush -

I bought my 5 acres from my cousin. Had a lawyer friend print up a boilerplate Quit Claim Deed form. We both signed it and had it notarized and filed it with the county. She had to provide a statement about the wells and septic too.

I don't know the law in a foreign country.

Git er done.

Canada is a neighboring country. Sounds much friendlier.

If you're Canadian, you need a lawyer to ensure titles are transferred legally and correctly and if you aren't Canadian, you need a lawyer even more to help unravel the mysteries of foreign land ownership.

Are you suggesting we don't have the right to poke fun at Canada?

Were you poking fun? I was just making a comment that I don't consider Canada foreign, but a neighbor. Half my relatives are Canadian, and I live, literally, right on the border.
