Wheelbarrows

How do you homestead without a wheelbarrow. We have three and they are always in use, no noise and a bit of excercise.

I have three, one of them a two wheel that I use most. Its also the only one who's tires don't go flat. I swear I spend more time airing up wheelbarrow tires than using them.

I recently bought this big noisy wheelbarrow, but it tears up the yard when wet, so I haven't scrapped the old ones.

We don't have one! I would like one, but I just can't seem to spend the money on it. Plus, we have a wagon (to pull by hand), and a cart for the garden tractor. We do ok.

I had 2 steel wheel, but my kids got one. Small deal. I doubt I use the other 3 times a year. Ive got a old style mower that had a side shaft engine on it with the blade in front and 2 V belts running above the shaft to the pulley mandrel above the deck and blade. I took the engine and pulley mandrel off, and use it as a platform on 4 wheels to haul buckets of water, or bags of feed, or a lot of other heavy things. I have a 2 wheel cart of sorts, high wheeled that they used at a hen far, its platform is round about the size to put the egg flats on. I used it till I got the mower and I like the mower more. It hauls more at a time.
Ive got a 4 wheel wagon that I can pull by hand, or could 20yrs ago. It has a flat bed 4 X 8. I pull it around with my Panzer.

Here is one of mine.I will recommend the run flat tires from harbor freight. The rear tires came off a lawnmower i was given to scrap.I still need to install some breaks for all my hills.A piece of wood through the spokes works for now.

To fix flat tires on wheelbarrow: Usually by the time tires wear out, the bearings need replacing. Best to buy a new wheel, tire, and bearing assembly. If tire is good, just leaks, I would apply Fix a Flat, which messes up the tire and rim, if tubeless, and just the tube if a tube type. Run it until it wears out and replace as mentioned above.

To get a whole new tire and wheel and/or another wheelbarrow, look at flea market. or yard sale. Pawn shop maybe but they may be too proud of it.

Know price new first.

We have a wheelbarrow, one children’s wagon, one farm wagon, and a couple of sleds.

My Dad bought me a wheelbarrow in 1982. It has served me faithfully all those years.
It is built simpler and different than the ones you can buy at the store.
