Stop by and see me there.
I am always next to the wooden framed windmill in the SE corner of the engine area.
I am not taking my famous corn sheller this year just two or three flywheel engines.
I have one I want to work on and see if I can get it running at the show.
Are you just visiting or do you also display there?
I am a member of the club too.

are you near the guy with the homemade grill that looks like a steam engine?

I will be having my first display there this year,it's a Montgomery Wards hoe trac,,it was my gramps and he bought it around the late 40's or so,,it's non running as well and has a broken axle gear and I am going to hit the flea market and try to find some parts for it so I will be in the small engine area as well but I've got a feeling I know you just by the area you are in

Bellyman,,it's a great show and alot of things to do for everyone,a petting zoo,the old town shops, sawmill exhibit,a train and maybe the old zoo train from the Traverse City Zoo will be running this year,,,waaaay to much to list

Just saw what I'm quite sure was the old Traverse City engine on a trailer . . looked like it was headed north to East Jordan . . . going north on 66.

Huge memories of the year I took my tractor to Buckley to sell it . . .I camped there for a week . . . Wow

I feel the need to go for a steam engine ride.........

Other years I have gotten a bad case of TB sitting on the hill side watching the parade.........

If you know that grill then I am pretty sure we have met. The steam engine grill is my nephew's. He is a metal working artist for sure.
He teaches welding for high school and college students.
I believe he said that grill was a class project.

I am farther down next to the windmill.
What day will you be arriving?

YES, The Spirit of Traverse will be giving kids rides this year. It is all rebuilt with a great track. You really NEED to see the train trestle they built for it.
This year I am not taking my big canopy. When I do: That whole row is all family. This year we might have a new family member showing up to display so even with my smaller 18X20 canopy we might maintain the all family row.

If you can get that gear off and putty up the missing pieces then take it over to the foundry they can cast you a new one from cast aluminum.
I have had them cast me a new part for a 1921 Elto Light Twin boat motor.
They only charged me $20. If you do not have a core for the hole you will have to drill it.

Jim you should drop by and say howdy too.
Yes they took it up there for some work to be done in the shop of one of our members. Seems like they said it had practically no working brakes and they would have all of them working.

Oh, I miss Buckley!

My third husband and I were members of the club ... we used to work on the parking lot shuttle crew. Those were some good times.

One of the highlights for me has always been mingling amongst the old monster steam engines.
Standing just feet from a steamer that has a belt on it powering the saw mill. awsome.
Year I took my tractor there, I had gone back to watch the steamers working the fields. Big commotion when the steamer had one of its fly wheels come off. There was two flywheels on that unit.
Not to worry the big boys and their very big "toys" got things straightened away. The steamer limped back to the staging area with just the one fly wheel.

Memories...............

My sister is right behind my trailer so nobody has the corner down there.
Try to not bother her because she is suffering under some kind of dementia.
Read that is try to not let her bother you too much.

It was my pleasure to meet Husky Boris and Rustaholic at the show on Friday.
I was paying attention to the weather people and knew about the coming rain . . . what rain we had . .wow . . .
So the auction I went to on Saturday was even postponed.......
My garden and orchard certainly loved all that rain......

And of course the conversation with these two gentlemen could have gone on and on. .. . . . .

Thanks guys................................

Unfortunately I didn't get to make it this year but try to make it every year. I have to say I love the old engine show. It's my kind of people. Everybody is nice and helpful in sharing trade secrets to keep stuff running.

I don't know whats more fun. The exhibits or the flea market. I always go there with a wad of cash buying old stuff that I can find some use for here or there. I have to admit it is difficult to see all the exhibits or sales stands in one day. Than there all the garage sales on the way to the show.
