Can I use these as rain barrels?

I have access to several 50 gallon plastic drums for free. The only clincher is they used to hold windshield washer fluid. Is there an effective way to clean them well enough to be able to use them as rain barrels for the garden? If not, does anyone make liners?
Thanks

Todd

Just rinse well.. Wiper fluid is soap.. I use barrrels that held methanol, for my water barrels..

Not the best, but not the worst either. I would use them if it's what I had. Just rinse well.

Thats what I am using. I also cut two in half as extra stock tanks. I rinsed them and left them in he sun for a while before giving them to the animals. I never see the horses drink from them, but the cattle do.

I don't think any tiny bit of residue will hurt the garden.

I like free barrels.

Great! I've got 9 of them. That'll catch a lot of rainwater. Thanks!

My rain barrels also used to hold windshield wiper fluid. A good rinsing out should do the trick.
