30 acres. Why do you ask?

There are 43,560 sq ft in one acre.

Google is your friend Bill, lol. It will perform pretty much any calculation you need. No need to look for any special calculator, just type the phrase into the search bar and hit enter. It does pounds/ounces to liters/milliliters, fractions to decimals, etc. I discovered this years ago, sure has been a help.

Simply take the total sq footage and divide by 43,560. It is that easy. I prefer to know my calculations than rely on online calculators. If SHTF...

Oh, I can do my own calculations, but why ignore technology as long it is available and can make things a little easier? Besides, Bill is always asking about conversions and calculations, and I was just trying to help a friend.

Sure, Google can be helpful... However, I find there are occasional errors. That is the reason I don't use the Google calculators for Mortgage Payments, for example. It surprised me how inaccurate some were.

I am admittedly old school when it comes to calculating, which includes long division, counting back change, etc... Amazing how often cashiers make mistakes and I catch them This includes refunding when they give me too much change. By tracking shopping, for example, easy to catch the price errors.

As a Realtor, I am expected to know all the calculations as they pertain to real estate. I'd look kind of dumb, if I had to Google the answer to a simple question. I get asked about acreage regularly.

Google is your friend. Sure you can do it long hand if you want but I guess you could be writing letters and talking on the phone as well.

Maybe I just need the practice. Yesterday at work I called for 'parts' . I held up the spring and said need 12 , have 5. He ask how many do I need. I said need 12 for the job , there is only 5 in the box. Again he says how many springs do you need? I felt like asking do you need a Crayola to figure it with?

Guess you didn't read the posts...read again, I was simply responding to hers...LOL.

My only point? It helps to know HOW to convert sq footage into acreage, instead of simply saying "Google it." Last time I checked, I am wayyyy too busy to have a computer available while I am out in the garden, cooking (I convert recipes while I cook for 2 people...), and the list goes on. When I am standing in a store, I can quickly calculate the best deals, without needing to see cost per ounce, etc... Since DH never uses a computer, he'd be in bad shape with all the work he does, heavily math based, if he couldn't calculate materials, etc..., while he worked. Basic math skills are good to have, but if one would rather rely on Google, go for it.

Well, since I barely graduated GS with arithmetic holding me back, and IO had to take Freshman Algebra over 1/2 semester, and made Ds one side or the other in Business Arithmetic, and that at 40+yrs ago, Im sure not any smarter today.

Thanks for the help. I had a place my realtor sent to me and the MLS only gave the footage. Turns out its an auction, so it don't matter.

DS is very gifted and highly intelligent, but not swift in math... Some can be mathematicians and barely functional otherwise. Does it help to know how to calculate?

We once had an argument about how many feet in a mile. We all knew the answer, except one guy who insisted we were wrong because he had looked it up on the internet. The name of the site he went to? 'Wronganswers.com'! He didn't notice the name of the site until we pointed it out to him.
