Small biting ?gnats?

Its been wet so I'm sure that has contributed to the huge population of biting bugs.
These things are tiny, around a mm wide and perhaps 2-3mm long. They especially love me when I'm sweaty. They bite as well as flock around me. I can tell the goats are also bothered because they are shaking their heads and kicking and biting themselves.

I notice them at night.

In previous years I've purchased fly predators from Arbico. I never noticed these things in those years. Perhaps the predators killed them as well

I have goats, turkeys, chickens and Muscovys - who do a number on the Mosquitos and flys but these are apparently too small.

Any suggestions as to what they are and how to be rid of them? I'm ordering predators now.

Thanks all

I'd like to know how people deal with them too.
I have worn a hat with netting when I had to work outside.
It was cumbersome but better than having them get in my eyes or up my nose.

A friend swore by skin so soft by avon but that didn't work for me.

Midges, gnats, noseeums, they have several names here and I don't know if they're all the same thing but they drive me crazy. Was hoping the bitter cold winter would keep the numbers down but that didn't happen.

A head net is essential when working outside, the Deep Woods spray seems to keep them from biting, but they still swarm your face, which is almost worse than the bites. I also wear a ratty white linen man's shirt and that keeps them, and the sun, off my arms.

If there's any way to just make them disappear I'd be happy to hear about it, till then the head net is my best friend.

It's gnat time of year and these guys have been bugging me.

I found a website that offers predator nematodes. I have no idea if it works or not, but good luck.

Culicoides. Their lifecycle will soon be complete, and they'll be gone for the year. They love moisture, and will attack thin skinned areas for blood.

I have two sets of flymasks for the horses-- one with ears and one without. It's about time to switch out. This happens every spring into early summer. Most horses are allergic to their saliva, which makes the area they've attacked very itchy. Scratch your horse's ventral line and see the fabulous faces.
