Any personal experience ordering residential metal roofing?

I need to order metal roofing panels for my house that we will diy install and wondered if anyone has had a good experience with a company that ships nationwide. I'm not finding many local companies. We're in Michigan. Thanks so much!

Menards supplied for both of our roofs. We are at least 2 hours from their store. Delivery cost about $200, and their prices are very reasonable.

Have you checked a local lumber yard, they ordered ours straight from the maker. Look for a local roofing roller....James

We ordered from these nice folks after seeing their ad in
The Farmers Advance. Since our roof is a standing seam
style and many of the sheets were extra long and factory cut,
they advised me to have it shipped directly to the job site on a
40 foot gooseneck trailer! So glad we took that advice . . .
saved a lot of money, time and hassle.
They did have 2-3 sheets arrive, that had deep gouges in the paint surface,
which apparently had slipped by the inspector, but these were replaced
the following week, without further incident, at no charge.

Also ordered their rainbow special which are factory 2nds consisting
of mistints and oversprays.which we used in constructing our shop
and pole barns for the animals. Considerable savings, plus we saved
even more because the sheets were shorter and I was able to pick
them up in person, in Goshen.

How hard is standing seam to install? How do you cut it?

Best to order to your needs but it can be cut with a skillsaw and an old, fine tooth blade, best not to use a carbide blade. We cut the top so it didn't show, sheets turned upside down, smoother surface. Very easy to install, screw it down and snap the next one on and make sure it is seated with a rubber mallet all along that edge....James

In our area, there are two Mennonite communities that offer metal roofing. You pay by the foot, they custom cut every piece.

I ordered my cabin's metal roofing from Home Depot. Was delivered directly to the cabin site, 20 miles up a dirt road. They cut it to the exact length I specified. I put a 7" metal-cutting blade on my circular saw for trimming. Once the underlayment is complete, it took just two day to get the metal sheething in place. Anchored the sheething with rubber-washered roofing screws that I screwed in place with my 3/8" electric drill.

Hanging metal roof is super easy.

Our house is 2400 sq ft, 40 by 60. It required a bunch of 22' pieces. It was very simple to get them delivered to site, all precut.

5 years later we decided to add-on a wrap-around porch. Extending the eave out 8' on 3 sides and adding a 3 car carport. A total addition of 2400 sq ft of roof. Again it was all delivered onsite and precut.

Both projects were simple one-man jobs.
