You know you've been homesteading too long when...
For the past 2 years my husband has been hospitalized 6 times. stroke, diabetic foot ulcer, infection, stents in his legs, quad bi-pass. In the past two years at every major holiday our church has "helped" us out financially. Well, my DH is finally getting better. So last week we wanted to give back. We planned a pot luck lunch after church. We provided the main staples from the animals we raised. Roasted duck breast with potatoes and gravy, bbq rabbit for sandwiches, and sloppy joes with lamb meat. I got little buns figuring people would want to try the bbq and the sloppy joes. I didn't know if everyone would show up or no one would show up... I just guessed how much to make and take. It went perfectly, there was enough for ONE sandwich left over.
Only one comment dumbfounded me, it was, "Do you ALWAYS eat like this?" Yah, I guess we've been homesteading too long. I don't know how else to eat unless we add a little venison...
