A trip to the Er yields.

9 stitches and some new super cool tools. I was so surprised they let us take them home. They were the throw away kind. They kept the needle out of the suture kit. We got to keep the hemos, tweezers and scissors .
Might be dh being an emt. Could just be we spoke intrest in them. The sucky thing is the trip couldn't be classified as urgent care. Had to be emergency as the gash was too big I guess. Sob. I'm just so grateful they were able to get dh in and fixed so fast.
I'm more grateful dh didn't fight me when I told him this was more then I could fix.

Very nice and you can sterilize them in your pressure canner as well

I work in a medical office and the MA/lab tech slips the "one use" metal suture removal kits into the autoclave for all of us to take home on a rotating basis. Nice tweezers and doable scissors.

I've got a couple of those kits. Very nice to have, not so great as to what you have to do to get them.

Here's all closed. And I didn't take pictures of the tools. They are already in my vet kit.

They had him in the room, cleaned, irrigated, closed and ready to leave before they even registered him. Fastest trip we have ever had. The Er was swamped too.

It doesn't just happen at the ER. My husband had surgery for skin cancer, and the nurse asked if I wanted the rest of the kit so I could take out the stitches in a week. You should have seen my husband's face! Sadly, I told her no, thank you. I can only assume he doesn't trust me with these tools so close to his face! Earlier, I had spoken to a woman in the waiting room who said she had taken out her husband's stitches, it saves them from another long trip to town, office visit, and charges for the doctor to do it.

I have always taken out all the stitches. From my own face and from my family. I will be removing my dh in 12-14 days. Unless it get infected or he tears it open at work.
If you can see the small scrape to the left of his gash, that plays the roll in the story. See when it happened my dh just took and pulled up his sock and was going to keep going. My 15 yo son seen it and spoke common sence. "Dad you ned to go wash that and at least get a clean sock on". Dh came in and there was a buzz. I just got a shower and was going to get a nap. I just planted the garden. I came out of the bedroom to see the excitement. I seen the scratch. Dh swore it was only a scratch. I seen the scratch. No big dal it's a scratch. Then the sock came down. Um ok not a scratch. Started to wash and seen how dirty it was. Not to mention my glue isn't that strong to hold together such a wide cut. As of this morning his gash looked super good. No signs of infection.

They sent us home with tools too...but they'd boogered something up with the first needle so they opened another pack and we got two.

My husband went to ER Mon eve, all he came home with was a plastic urinal. Truth...They were trying to get a urine specimen. He couldn't give.
