Lending tree is not a loan company. It matches you up with a number of loan companies willing to loan you money who then contact you.
Some of those companies are good, some are not.
I have used Lending Tree twice successfully but you must watch the fine print of those loan companies - one had a pre-payment penalty (Which I immediately rejected)

In most cases the companies are only Warehouse Lenders, meaning they set up the loan and after closing they then sell it off to one of the big banks (taking their profits of course) - nothing wrong with that, it happens all the time and the terms may not legally change. Just understand that the company you made the loan with is not necessarily the company that will service the loan.
