Wood chips

I'm putting wood chips around my fruit trees - is there any problem putting them up against the trunk - I'm doing this to keep weeds and grass from growing around the trees - I'm not sure if you need to keep them away from the trunk - thanks

Wood chips are great mulch, but you don't want to have them right up against the trunk for a number of reasons.

Here's a quick rundown: http://richmondtreestewards.org/volcano-mulching/
wally and Patchouli like this.
