Hyvee is here, Aldi is about a 45 minute drive never been there, and Walmart.
Haven't even heard of the rest.
The regular grociery stores here aren't on your list.

Same here, don't know most but Wegmans is pretty good. Never really thought of Costco as a supermarket.

Wegmans is always at the top of any list. It is my favorite grocery retailer and has been for about 20 years. If you've never heard of it, that is likely because it is a Northeast chain (from Rochester NY) that is expanding into the South.
They are usually near the top on the list compiled by Fortune Magazine of the best places to work. My favorite Wegmans is in Ithaca. It actually has a 2nd floor with a cooking school for testing recipes.
Publix is my favorite market in Florida and we're getting a Trader Joes in the area soon. I think we went to a Harris Teeter in NC. I don't remember a whole lot about it.

By stating 'highest rated', does that imply the cost of goods or just general all-around service?

...............My understanding is that Consumer reports polled 27,000 customers about 55 different "Chains" , so the ratings is a general preference type question . Some 'chains' are doing biz in only 2 states and a few are nation wide . , fordy

And only Aldi's is my area of which I may stop in once a year and that is about it. I do more shopping at Walmart then I do at Aldi's and even at that is only a few times a year.

Publix prices are a bit high, but the service is excellent and the business model of having employees be the stockholders is well worth rewarding.

Wegmans has always offered employees benefits and better wages so many of their employees are lifers. They offer scholarships to the teens that work there, too. At my local store, many of the employees have been there for more than 20 years. There was a time when I used to stop at Wegmans every day to pick up something. Sometimes it was to grocery shop, but other times it was to get some of the hot prepared foods. To this day, I rarely bake my own cakes for holiday gatherings. There is no point when Wegman's are always absolutely perfect and look like they came from a "real" bakery instead of a grocery store bakery! Unfortunately, they stopped making their ganache cakes: whipped cream frosting, fresh raspberries and shaved white or dark chocolate...Mmmmm!

I think Costco should get removed from the list and bump up the next "real" supermarket. A bulk store is its own different category.
Most of those on the list aren't in this area so have never shopped them. We do have Aldi's and Hy Vee. I prefer Hy Vee. It's also an "employee owned" chain.

Trader Joe's? REALLY? That shocks me. I simply do not understand why folks rave over that place. Other than cheap wine and a decent cheese selection - I don't get it.
Publix is coming this way hard and fast. I had the chance to go into one last year and it seemed pretty pricey. But - Harris Teeter is here and I (back before I grew so much of our food) loved me some HT. They, too, are stupid expensive but the stores are so clean and the help is so friendly - I loved to trade there. Sadly, they are trying to sell to Kroger and many suspect it's because of Publix coming to town. Let Kroger buy them and they won't be worth walking into. The shareholders are fighting that ... who knows what will happen.

Only onee of those I've been to is Aldi's and their prices aren't always better.Couple that with long waits in the checkout line and they've lost my vote.

I love Publix, but it is too expensive for day-to-day. They have good specials if you follow the ads. Trader Joe's is good for a few specialty items. Their own brand products are actually pretty competitively priced. I don't know why, but I never cared for Aldi. We don't have any of the others. Wal-Mart is the big presence here, but I don't like them much.

The only one we have listed is HEB. I love them hands down over the other 3 bib markets, Albertsons (super high prices for here) Walmart and... Lowes I think the store has changed names so often from M-System to Food Basket to... I forget now but it is Lowes now and both stores are dark and dirty and I can't stand going in. Plus prices are higher than HEB and meat/produce are not nearly as nice.

Sigh! Any of those on the list that I can get to are 3 (yes, 3) hours away.
Another joy of rural living.

Love, love, love Publix. Customer service is unequaled. Stores are clean and well stocked. Ask where an item is, and the employee will walk you right to it.
Use their "buy one, get one free" sales with coupons, and they have their own, also, and get things for cheap and sometimes free.
We have a Super Walmart, also. I know the prices of most everything I buy, and go to WM for some things, and Publix for others, depending on what is on sale. WM is a pain in the neck when you are using coupons, Publix takes them with no problem.
Meat and produce is good quality. Right before the steaks and roasts "sell by" date, the meat department people pull them and grind them into hamburger meat. Its called "market ground" and you can tell it is from good cuts of beef.
I did real well there yesterday, as they have the cat food on sale that my babies like. I had coupons from the paper, printed ones from online, and Publix coupons.
I am so glad Publix came to my town! Winn-Dixie and Walmart needed the competition.

Wegmans is like the Disneyland of grocery stores....many different specialty areas, a deli section that has a Chinese food bar, Indian bar, sushi bar, dessert bar...and tables where you can eat, so DH and I would go there just for lunch sometimes. Lots of organics, including house brands that are well priced. Albacore tuna that was solid fish, no mush at all, for less than $1 a can...I had DH stock up on 100 cans last time he was back in VA....it was my favorite grocery store and I miss shopping there. I HATE grocery shopping, so nice surroundings made it a little more tolerable.
Also love TJs and do a lot of shopping at Aldi...all the rest are just grocery stores afaic. But we are getting a new Publix soon, looking forward to trying them out, and they have the free antibiotic plan at their pharmacy, so that may come in handy.

Love my H.E.B. There are Aldi's around, but much farther away.
