Someone know of a reasonable priced shipping Co

That they have delt with in the Midwest. I was going to send a garden disc that goes on a garden tractor from Okla to Ariz. They wanted $390. That's crazy.

That's cheap Bill.. I shipped a pair of speakers on a single pallet from Louisiana to here in Virginia, and it ran me about $500... Yep, they were big, but smaller and lighter than your disk I'd bet.. they weighed about 500 lbs. That was about 6 years ago..

if you ever have watched I know you have heard about Youship.
The Buyer is the one that pays not the shipper, for shipping costs.
When they deliver the goods whatever that is, the payment is made on the receivers end, not the shipper.
I sold a pretty heavy Western Saddle and all the trimmings a 14 years ago with UPS, it went out to Oregon, I got paid for what I wanted for the saddle just under 1K Sold it on E Bay, and the Buyer paid a Additional cost of $125 for shipping costs to ship it to Oregon.

I had some things shipped via Yellow Freight many years ago - not sure if that helps.

And probably a long shot, but would it be worth posting on craigslist? You never know if someone has space and time and would like to make some cash. Just throwing that out there..

Any u gals looking for Maytag washers?

I saw one at the sale I go to, which I will go to tomorrow. One had a wringer problem. It wouldn't swivel unless I raised it a bit. The flippers didn't work either. The rolls looked great and it was a later model as the flippers were a pale blue, and the lid was hinged on the L side, facing it. The tub wasn't painted. Mom had one that had red flippers, and the tub was painted white like the outside, and the lid was removable.
Saw a second on a trailer just coming in as I was leaving. Don't know anything about it. It had the red flippers, so it was the older variety.

By flippers, I mean the pieces that had Press to Release imprinted in/on them

Maybe 15 -20years ago my parents would ship stuff to family members around the country by using moving companies. The moving company would add the item to a moving van that was already going near the end destination, then finish the shipment with a local delivery. They shipped bikes, appliances, etc at a lot cheaper rate than actual freight companies like UPS, etc. The only down side is that sometimes it took awhile to get the item there. Curt

About 7 years ago I had a large package shipped through Estes. It was about 8'x3'x5', and maybe 300 pounds. It cost about $400, Texas to Ohio. If you can, ship to a commercial or industrial address with a loading dock, they usually lower the price.

Is there a Fastenal near both parties?
Store locator
http://www.fastenal.com/web/locations
Third party logistics
http://www.fastenal.com/web/en/22/th...logistics-(3pl)
I shipped a 300 lb leaf vac on a pallet from pittsburgh to Kansas City for $100.

The branch managers have never heard of this program, but the lady in the main office will tell them what to do.

Here is what I think you are running into:
It isn't the Weight anymore in most cases that the cost of shipping is based on.
It is The Size And Shape of what is shipped.~! You said it was bulky but didn't weigh that much.
This is coming from FedEx and they Will go to this system Jan 1st.
Quote:
Under the current system, a box of 30 rolls of toilet paper weighing 5 pounds only gets charged for its weight. But the 10-inches-by-14-by-24 box it comes in takes up a lot of space in trucks and cargo planes that could go to smaller and heavier boxes. So starting Jan. 1, the shipment will be billed as if it weighed 21 pounds.

"Dimensional weight pricing is a common industry practice that sets the transportation price based on package volumethe amount of space a package occupies in relation to its actual weight," said FedEx in a statement.
And even on UShip it is VERY important that the carrier KNOWS the dimensions. So I bet that is why that person got a high shipping cost fro UShip Size matters now, more then weight when shipping~!

FedEx Plans To Charge By Size Could Shake Up E-Commerce

Go through the link for a quote, not through the local store. The people in the stores do not know about the Third Party logistics program. When I shipped, I knew more about it than the local store people.

Hear is a discussion of the Fastenal shipping, specific to garden tractors.

Fastenal came in with quote of $181 to ship a pallet weighing 150 lbs from Kansas to Phoenix. Not too bad.
