electric fence -telephone

I know that Ive had this problem before and I know that there is a solution-but I am having a very senior moment.I can hear my electric fence clicking on the telephone. It is getting beyond annoying.

Please tell me how to stop the noise!! Please!!!

Someplace you have a short. Have to go out ands inspect every inch to see where the wire might be touching steel post tree limb insulator cracked somewhere you got a short. make sure the ground is a Good Ground also. at several locations 2 - 3 or so grounded posts for the ground side.

If it is dry where you are, water your ground rod for the fencer. Not a little spritz, but soak the area so the moisture goes doen 4-5 feet around the rod.

Check the fence for a short. Somewhere along the fence a damp spider web, or cracked porcelain or worn thin plastic insulator is sparking across every pulse, and that is setting off on your phone.

I have that problem. I have adequate grounds. We finally decided that since one section of fence goes down the driveway which has a buried telephone line on the other side that harmonics are being caused by that set up. When that section of fence is disconnected, no clicks. I can tell when there is s short in the line because the click is much louder. just went through that yesterday, after having the same problem the day before. Just the electric fence wire getting hung on a barb on the barbed wire fence.

It's convenient to have the fence in sections that can be disconnected. It also helps to have a good fence checker with a digital display and check one section at a time.

In adding telephone and electric fence to the heading. I was reminded that in the one room wood school I spent the 2nd grade in, it was the only one out of 3 of such that I attended that had a phone. It had been built using bare wire by farmers in the district in the 20s. I broke a thermometer in my mouth cause the teacher stuck it too far back and I clamped down and broke it. She tried calling the doc to see if the mercury would hurt me. I had never seen a thermometer before. She said it was like hearing someone strangle a cat lol.

Our neighbors had this problem when we put our electric fence in. Call the phone company and make them come out and fix it. They need to put in a new wire. It is THEIR problem.
