Interesting Finnish axe.... I want one.

I don't know if this has been posted before, but I want one of these axes. The speed he was going though the wood is impressive. If anyone knows where to purchase one I'd love to know.

All I can say is. I have hit off cantor with a regular axe and when it slams over to one side or the other, it is hell on your wrist. This thing is designed to do that every time. Might work good, but I cannot imagine your wrist and arms are going to feel to good at the end of the day.

There's a thread on here somewhere discussing that axe. Notice that the wood he's splitting appears to be birch-which splits easily. I'd be more impressed if he was splitting a tougher wood.

I'm a 53 yo woman. I cannot use a maul-it's too heavy. However, I split the majority of my wood by hand using fiskars axe, like this one. http://www.sears.com/fiskars-7853693...&blockType=G20 (They come in different lengths, and I'm not sure which length I have. I'm 5'4", if that helps any) I've been using it for several years now, and would not trade it for that.

Id wait till you see a youtube review on real wood. With the right log i can make a screwdriver look like a great splitting tool. I have an oak round sitting by the woodpile with 3 wedges stuck in it that i can gurantee that axe would bounce off of. Need an unbiased review that shows how it does on different logs compared to a reg axe. My fiskas splitter would chew those logs he was splitting right up

Dizzy id strongly recomend something longer for splitting this is the one i use http://www.sears.com/fiskars-36-quot...1&blockType=G1 that way if you miss or it deflects off the axe will hit the ground in front of you and not your own leg or foot!

I noticed that too dizzy and thought also that the wood was birch. They only showed him lifting one stump, and if that had of been oak, blackjack, hickory, ida been more impressed
BUT, wherever Birch is plentiful, it looks like it would be good. Bert it nearly burns your fingers when you put it in the stove when dry lol.
Since I split my trees long ways then run them through the buzz saw, it wouldn't be any use to me. Ill take a look at your fiskers ax.

Still not impressed. He said the red oak that he split was several years old. When its that old it will split fine and easy.
As an aside, I went out and weighed my ax and maul. Ax weighs 4lbs. Maul weighs 7 1/2

The axe I used for years is called a ChopperI. Used it to split all my firewood...oak, maple, ash and pine. It was the best. They have a web sight....just google Chopper I.

I bookmarked the page for the tire idea, that is kinda neat.

The axe, boy I don't know if my wrists would like taking all that twisting all the time.

Would like to see him hitting some elm with that axe, and I would -not- stand to the right of him when he does.....

I don't know how long mine is, which I stated. It was dark out and raining when I made my post, so I wasn't about to go out and measure it! And, I've been splitting w/mine for several years now w/out hitting my leg or foot.

Hear that wood split in video.. it is frozen, straight, dry, no knots etc....

Yes and in no way would I want an ax to as soon as you hit the wood will twist like that. No Way. Just a gimmick to sell to the uninformed that have not used a Real Az in cutting wood before, or don;t care about how that would be on ones wrists. Ouch big time.
