Our neighbor was kind, but now I don't know what to do.

Yesterday a guy showed up on his riding lawn mower and offered to mow our grass for us. We think it's one of the neighbors we met, but he was wearing a hat this time so, we're not sure. And, if it is that neighbor I don't know where he lives, because we've only driven that way like twice. I want to give him a loaf of bread or a plate of cookies as a thanks, but I don't know who it was. lol What do I do?

Ask one of your other neighbors if they know.

if another neighbor doesn't know, maybe you'll have to watch for the hatted man on the same kind of mower out mowing his own yard again?

Well, if he got to you on a riding mower, he couldn't have come from too far. What did you do.?? How high was your grass??
MYSELF, Ida said that Ill take care of it.

That said, If I were likely YOU, Ida asked what he thought doing it was worth?
Is it a big yard, or a small one??

I'm sorry to sound cynical but if you let a complete stranger come and do something on your land without talking to him and finding out who he was and where he came from I'd suggest you be cautious and watchful now. Keep a close eye on your property and your possessions to make sure nothing goes missing in the next few weeks, speak to your neighbours and try to find out who that man was and actively go looking for him. If you see him again be sure to talk to him and find out his name and exactly where he lives. When you find him then you can give him a plate of cookies but learning exactly who he was and what his motivation is should be your top priority now.

I don't think he was coming to rob us or anything. I've been sick so I didn't go outside, but my husband did. He said he's pretty sure it's the neighbor we were thinking it is. I asked him if he expected to be paid, but he said he didn't think so. The neighbor didn't elude to it or anything. My husband said he thinks he was just being neighborly. We met him and the guy knows we've just moved in and don't have a lawn mower or anything. lol I'm sorry if I painted the picture as though he mowed and then left. My husband and children moved toys, branches, and big rocks out of his way and got to talk to him a little bit. He saw a king snake and warned us about it.

Before I started carrying cookies down there, I would give it a few weeks and wait for the grass to grow back up. That way when you take the cookies down, you can also remind him it is time to mow again!!!

Really?

There are still folks that help a neighbor just because they need help.

I kinda have the same problem some one plowed snow a few times when I was away dealing with a death but I don't know who to ask and how much to pay, when I call the plow guy it cost me like $100.00 each snow, so finding the person and finding the money I just don't know how to handle it without cash in hand. Kinda afraid to go looking

I always try to be that neighbor/person and instill this to my kids … Dad why did you load that woman cart with the heavy bags ? well son it was easy for me took less than a minute and made this person life a little bit easier if we all pitch in life is so much enjoyable … and I was too blessed by a man on a riding mower once it was in mn during the winter I was starting to plow our driveway and saw that man on his JD rider he lowered the snow blower and cleared the snow in less time than it took me to realize what he was doing … I barely had the time to wave thanks … to this day I still don't know who he was … yes people still enjoy helping each other and do not necessarily expect anything in return than a smile thanks or a simple nod

Hurry, Put up one of those "No Trespassing" signs, before he comes back and tries to help you with something else!!!

The nerve of some people to think they can just go around helping people and get away with it.

But, seriously!! I would not worry about him much, you know what they say "No good dead goes unpunished" he will get his in the end.

Go knock on doors. Be embarrased...tell them the truth. Or, if you are me, I forget easily because of my stroke, so I tell them that.

Well, my husband was right. I made him muffins and sent my husband down there with them. Twenty minutes later he was back with my clean dish. While he was here he cut down some metal thing that was sticking up out of the ground that had bent the blade on his mower. Now I feel like we should replace it or something, but my husband said he had said he fixed it. lol This guy is making this difficult.

It was probably my husband. If so he'll be back next week if you don't mow your grass. There is no stopping him. He just loves to mow. It's like a zen experience for him or something? He'd probably like a glass of sweet tea more than a loaf of bread though.
