Can l plant red and black berries close together?

I bought 10 new starts of blackberries and planted them a month ago and they are leaving out. Now l bough some red raspberries at rural king and wondering if l can plant them fairly close to each other? We live in Trimble County in the North Central part of the State.

I had black and red raspberries planted right next to each other for years. No ill effects, or cross pollinating.

Seeing as both blackberries and raspberries reproduce by making new canes every year, root cuttings, or tip layering, they'll run true to form. Neither are propagated by seeds, although it is possible. Here is an informative article about the reproductive habits of blackberries, so that you can better understand the cycle of floricanes and primocanes.
