Isn't Mother Nature a Riot!

Two days ago it was 83 degrees here. Perfect spring day. The grass in the orchard is ready to be mowed for the first time, my spring garden is coming up, turkeys are gobbling in the timber, birds are singing.

Then yesterday we had some pretty torrential downpours and strong storms.

Today, I just looked outside and it's snowing big flakes. Thankfully it's still warm enough out that it's only trying to stick a little but it's still pretty funny to watch.

Isn't Mother Nature a fickle you know what? Just when you think winter is behind you she reminds you who is really in charge.

So how is spring shaping up where you are?

LOL. Saturday it was in the mid 80's and we were out riding the Harley's, and yesterday we got hammered with basically a blizzard!
No visibility at all, solid 30-40 mph winds, and just got totally dumped on with snow. It was a mess.
Tomorrow we will be back up into the mid-high 60's, gotta love Mother Nature....

Down here on the Mo AR central it was nasty last night, and I probably have more trees down, hopefully not across drive trail. hope We didn't get the freeze as I just planted 8 berry and a peach tree along with other starts. Would mean starting all over. We've done that two yrs in a row now. Hope ya all recover from your snows soon enough.

I have four new fruit trees and 24 blackberry plants being shipped today from Starke's Nursery down in Mexico Mo. Look for them to be here Wednesday. Mother nature darn well better have her act together by then. Frankly I'm sick and tired of her attitude!

Yup! A few days ago it was mid 80's. Today I have ice on my windshield and snow on my lawn. The north wind is still howling, but not as strong as yesterday.

I am SOO ready for spring.

I'm pretty sure Mother Nature and Old Man Winter are on a bender. Some day soon he'll get locked up for disturbing the peace and she'll sleep it off and get back on track

Once in Michigan years ago, I was out when the temperature dropped 40 degrees in the space of an hour and a half. I could literally feel it getting colder minute by minute. No breeze- it just got colder.
Here I was walking along the shore and the ocean side was cold while the land side was hot. I watched little puffs of fog form at head height afoot or two to the ocean side, drift in front of me and disappear a foot or two to the land side. That was really weird.

That is what they always said about living in New England. But it is nothing like the extremes that we have here in Nebraska. Talk about screwy weather patterns.

Magnolias are starting to bloom, but they won't like 19 degrees tomorrow night. Seems like 2 of 3 years they get frosted. Fortunately, the apples are not so far along that I have to worry.

Yesterday 40's and rain and lots of thunder and lightning. This morning 6:00am quiet and 4" of snow. And when we drove past the potato fields on our way to a dr.'s appt. the wind had blown the snow into a 8" blanket across the road. Nope, don't slow down.... So. WI

The last two days were 80+ with overnight lows in the 60s. Today is struggling to make it to 45 and tonight is supposed to be 28! Of course we planted the new fruit trees two weeks ago, when we thought we had seen the end of winter. Silly us!
