I can't find a stick big enough to beat the old man away. Only a dusting here, but the pond froze. The cows came into to get milked covered in snow. It was like February all over again. I'll take the moisture, though. No complaints there.

Three weeks ago we had a low of -6, within less than a week it was 76, An 82f difference. Now it is 17f. Mother Nature needs to make up her fickle mind!

Yep, temps are swinging wildly here but that's the prairies. Went from -20C to +10C in one day. Then last week it's back from +10C to -15C.

I wish there was a way to turn these temperature fluctuations into energy somehow!

Same here. It got up to almost 80 last week and Tuesday the high will be 42. I'm so ready for spring. Heck, I'd take summer at this point!

I hate to say it, but this might be the new winter for years to come. The weather is messed up. Places like Alaska had abnormally warm (for them) weather this year (see http://www.livescience.com/43751-idi...m-weather.html ) while in WI, MN, and MI, weather was more like Alaska. The theory is that the normal jet stream flowing from west to east was disrupted, thus allowing the cold air to flow downward from the pole, right in our faces. That west to east jet stream formed a barrier. The reason for the messed up jet stream? Less temperature differential from north to south. The reason for this? Less polar ice. So global warming, ironically, may indeed be causing us to freeze our butts off. And I am not, BTW, advocating this with any political bias. Frankly, I believe this whole weather issue has been wrongly politicized. This is not a red vs blue issue, unless we are talking blue as in frozen to death. But because of the politicization, there have been obstacles in tackling this serious issue. Weather is incredibly complex, and anyone that says they can predict years in advance is flat out wrong. The mathematics behind it all is staggering - we have complex systems that interact, one affecting the other, obeying chaos theory as it applies to differential equations, which permits a very small change to cause a very big change in the system. But, we can say for sure the polar ice is disappearing - we have proof. And we can say for sure that our winter weather is topsy-turvy this year. And I think this may have economic implications. People where I live are talking of moving, I am seeing For Sale signs. People do not want to live in 6+ months of winter. Nobody wants to be knee-deep in snow on the 20th of April as we were last year. I am hoping (and praying) for the polar sea ice to return - if that happens we may see a return to normalcy. Otherwise, Iowa and Illinois may be the new WI and MN. WI and MN may become the new Ontario.

Ok, I am in Central Virginia, baseball season starts in 9 days, temperature is 32, (not bad). We have 4 inches of snow with more coming down!!!!
Last night the weatherman said we would have 0 - 1 inch!!! He lied!!
I need to get dog food, we waited because I get 20% off on tuesdays, but now I am hoping we have enough for tomorrow.
Our county believed the weatherman and didnt have the snow plows out, so the raods are a mess!!
WINTER SUCKS!!

Well we are in the bullseye of a severe "Nor'Easter" heading our way and supposed to hit Wednesday morning. The Blizzard warning has already been issued. 14" or more of snow with hurricane force winds...

70 last weekend, 7-8 inches of snow Tuesday night, record low last night. It may be summer before I get this garden planted. It's supposed to be warm this weekend, but of course I have to work.
