What is the weather like in your neck of the woods?

This morning the temperature was -1 at 7:00. Wind chills are -15 to -25. We still have a lot of snow here. The snow banks are so high you can't see out into the intersections. I can't wait for spring. The thought of planting a garden right now is very exciting. Of course I won't be planting until late May or early June. Good news, the sun is shining today. That is very uplifting.

Minus 11 here too. If you get inland a little farther they have a minus thirty nine. At least the winds have dropped. Worst winter ever.

Was -20F actual last night. We had -40F windchills yesterday afternoon. While this has been the coldest winter in recent memory, the snowfall is about half of what it normally is here.

We typically get 300-400" of snow in a normal winter (yes, folks that's 25-30 feet per year). It's a fairly small band of plateau that receives this much with a relatively low population, so it's not a big deal for us. This year, Lake Erie completely froze over and did so early. This shut down that lake effect dump that normally creates that amount of snow fall. At last check our total snow fall was just under 200". However, without that January thaw that we typically get, our snow banks are just about as big as ever.

It's a good year to be an ice fisherman.

About -12 here last night. Supposed to warm up to about 10 today. The wind is out of the south.

The last few days we had winds up to 45 mph. The top half of a pint tree blew down. The butt end missed the fence around the garden by a foot. The top missed the shortwave antenna by inches. I am waiting for warmer weather before I cut it up.

It was not a great year to be an ice fisherman here. The lakes froze over early but it snowed when there was only a few inches of ice. The ice sank and the water came on top of the ice so we had about 6 inches of snow on top of 4 inches of slush on top of 3 inches of ice. The snow insulated the water and slush so it took a long time to freeze the slush and form new ice. It was New Years before I could put the house out. The houses have to be off the ice by Monday but most lakes have 5 foot snowdrifts on them. The news showed one fisherman who was cutting through the drifts with his bobcat and a front loader to get his house off. The heavy snow on some lakes forced the ice down and the water came on top so those fishermen are dealing with the drifts and a foot of slush on top of the ice and their houses are frozen into the ice.

I don't want to know how cold it is out there. It's too depressing and I have to go out and check ewes every couple of hours. It's less than -11 (not wind chill) right now. I think I'll just wear my long johns all day, thank you.

It was -17 at 5 this morning. There is wind, but do not know the WC factor.

I too think it's the worst year ever. We might have had more snow before, but not these cold temps. EVERY.SINGLE.DAY.

Our old farmer neighbors say they have never seen it like this.
OK Yankee, light rain and mulemom like this.

That's a normal ice season for us Nimrod...lots of snow before the ice gets thick enough...the bottom layer of snow turns to slush which doesn't freeze until we get a little January thaw or it gets really cold. This year most of the lakes I fish have nearly 2' of ice (I know, I know that's not much for you, but for us that's a lot), with only a foot or so of snow. It's been kind of nice this year, but unfortunately in PA there are not many lakes in which you are allowed to take snowmobiles or ATVs out on the ice, even with this thick ice...so we STILL have to hoof it.

-32 C this AM. That will be our high apparently. Tonight the windchill? -59 C. That is -72 F.

This is the end of Feb. Our normal high should be around 20 F.

This is just plain dumb already.

About 40ish at night and about 50ish during the day but I lived in Michigan for many years and so heartily sympathize. I used to define really cold as the point I would have my teeth freeze if I briefly smiled at someone in passing- usually that was about 10 degrees. Then there was painfully cold where your exposed skin hurts when you first step outside- below zero.
Ah, the damp smell of frozen mittens drying in the kitchen- how I don't miss you.........

-2 this am, 1/2 inch of fresh snow last night. High is supposed to reach a balmy 15 today. Have the same storm as Becka is our forcast.
Oh, yeah, still over 18" of packed snow and ice on the ground from all ther previous storms.

we were -25 overnight and high today is to be around 8 above..sun is out though and that is a good thing..forcast is for similar below zero nights and single digits to teens for the next week and then a sl warmup into teens to 20's. We have a lot of snow on the surfaces..wondering if roofs will hold it all

Yep, us too - it was a high of -2 yesterday! It's warmer today, 9 degrees. Feels almost balmy after the wind chills yesterday.

Getting very tired of winter.

It was 105 degrees degrees here yesterday and 98 today. But it is near the end of summer here now so hopefully it will start cooling off soon. I am off the coast of Rio de Janeiro Brazil right now. But my wife back home tells me that it has been really cold in Mississippi lately. Nothing like you guys have up North but cold enough to make you want to stay in by the fireplace.

March is going to live up to its reputation and "come in like a lion". Calling for 6 inches of snow this weekend and very cold temps next week. Today it is sunny and in the 20's and according to the forecast, it is the nicest day we will see for a week.
