seed rate

Can anyone give me the rate per acre for the following seed?:

Rape
Kale
Millet
Alfalfa
Red/White Clover

The plan was to get some Chicory as well but the price has scared me away!!

Depends.
If you were planting alfalfa in with an oat crop with intentions of a hay crop the following year, drilled in when the oats are planted 15 pounds to the acre. Same for clover.

If you are broadcasting bare ground, followed by a cultipacker,, maybe more, but under 20 pounds clover or alfalfa,to the acre.

If you intend on planting the whole list, drilled into a plowed and disced field, kale at 3 pounds, rape at 10 pounds, millet at 20 pounds. 8 pounds of alfalfa and 8 pounds of clover.

If you are going to broadcast it on an old pasture, double the numbers.

If you are using this to pasture raise hogs, you are going to cry when you see what they do to your costly seeding.

I was just about to click the "like" button on this until I read your last sentence as it looks about right for the seeding rates...as for the last line...this has not been my experience, unless they are left on the paddocks too long. My pigs have a hard time keeping up with rape and brassicas mixed with legumes.

Depends on climate, soil type and population. I see far more 300 sq ft per unit than 30,000 sq ft. Will there be a 6 month wait for the crop to develop? Far too any variables.
