A reminder - this is not General Chat

Just wanted to remind you that this is for Questions about Homesteading and how to do it.

If you have topics such as the recently moved threads, please just start them in General Chat as they will end up being moved there as soon as I or one of the other HQ mods see it or receives a report about it.

Thanks

That's really ridiculous Angie. You need to take a chill pill lady. This is just an internet forum. Sometimes you moderators go way overboard. I think we need term limits for moderators. That is just so ridiculous.

Did you really just say that?
Is it really too much trouble to start a thread in the appropriate section?
Much like an auto and truck forum, you wouldn't ask a question about a Chrysler slant 6 engine in a Ford mustang section would you?

And to be fair, sometimes people want to discuss something in a different manner than what they're going to get in GC.
In which case, I would suggest Countryside Families is probably the better bet than GC or homesteading.

It's more of a living-room manners type of conversation, rather than bar-room smokin' and jokin' (as well as snide, nasty comments) that you'll see in GC.

I liked his post, NOBODY else has? lol.

Why is GC hidden from the public? How is one to find your post using google? The answer: your not!

GC needs made public again, so it can be searched by others in their favorite search engine!

As it stands only logged in users can view GC, I often view this site as a guest.

The other forums are public, and searchable via your favorite web search, GC needs this enabled, so we can easily find information. I don't post in GC anymore because of that reason alone, nobody but registered/logged in users of this site will see the topic, which isn't that many, which could be an important message to get published.

To encourage the use of GC, it should be made viewable/public to non registered users again.

GC has always been where one must be logged in to see it. It is not the prime forums of a Homesteading forum. It is not going to change.

And it's not for google searches as it is not the reason for this forum.

Just so you know.

We do not move anything to Countryside Families, so if you want it in that forum, start it in that forum. Just so you'll know.

Best wishes everyone, Spring is on the way and cabin fever should be alleviated.

Moderation seems to be consistent, and in line with the oft-posted guidelines. If the moderation seemed to be favoring one point of view over another, I can see a complaint as valid. Other than that, sometimes you just don't like the way things are.

Sometimes when I go in a place and don't like the way they run their business, I just leave. I don't bother telling them how they put on their show. Lotta other places to patronize.

Unhappy

I like forums where people can post in peaceful coexistence without being put down. I see that has not changed.

Fatrat is not a newbie. And, even if he has an opinion like that, he didn't have to phrase it in such a rude way.

This particular forum has always been intended to be used for homesteading questions and as far back as when Cabin Fever moderated it, non related topics were moved to more suitable locations. It has little to do with Angie's preference or any perceived abuse of power.

Now what happened?

The rules for HT haven't changed through all the years I've been here. They are simple and easy to follow.

That's my 2-cents.

Wow. you realize that you said that "out loud", right?. "Take a chill pill lady"???....this is just another example of what the anonymity of the internet has done to destroy communication skills. Even if you have a valid point, it will fall on the deaf ears of those that still value treating people with any amount of respect.

There are at least a dozen different ways that you could have made your point without your aggressive and rude tone.

Sad

I never thought of it but I guess I posted my Red Alert topic in the wrong forum then since it's not a question. West Coast Red Alert re: Weather

Maybe it should be moved to CF forum so everyone on west coast can see it, including those who are not logged in? I can't post it in S&EP and GC is not suitable since it's not a GC topic, not many people read in GC and you have to be logged in to read there anyway.

Or is it okay to stay where it is?
