Winter weather but I'm ordering seeds and plants

Ho hum. Today as I filled out my seed and plant order, the snow was falling and continues to pile up. It has snowed, and snowed, and snowed intermingled with either cold weather or very cold weather.

But at some point Spring will be here, and I need to be ready.

First thing on the order form was Giant Sunflowers. What says Summer more than a yellow sunflower head as it follows the sun across the sky on a Summer day?

Next was Red Peter Pepper seed. The name says it all. I've never grown it before. I figured at any rate, my wife will get a charge out of it.

Bloody Butcher Corn. Never grew it before, but thought it might make a nice decoration in the Fall with the blood red corn.

Mangel seeds. Never grew these before either, but figure if some grow, the goats will enjoy it.

Two different kinds of cucumbers. Last summer my wife got in the mood to make "Fridge pickles", where you make a pickling brew and cut up your cucumbers and let them marinate. I'm thinking if we get enough cukes, I would like to try canning some pickles.

Next on the list is two different June bearing strawberry plants. I've planted a few strawberries, but the weeds always took over. I have plans to put down lots of straw once these are planted. Keeping the weeds down, keeping the moisture in, as well as keeping clean berries for 2015. Mmmm - huge red, shiny, juicy strawberries - I can almost taste them now.

Muskmelon seed. Never grew these before but figured it would make a nice summer treat.

And last, but not least, two different kinds of Green Pepper seeds. Not only are the peppers good to eat fresh out of the garden, but they go in so many different recipes I use.

Order is complete and is even mailed. Now I sit here staring out the window - at the white winter wonderland we have. More snow falling and not a glimpse of the sun.

Ho hum.

Nothing better than ordering seeds and dreaming of summer when there is snow on the ground. It is good to dream~

Let me see if I can't tease a little too ! 220 tomatoes going in the ground in 2 weeks, along with a few cukes and squash. Took this picture 20 minutes ago and we got about 7" of snow on the ground.

Tarhill,

Do you have a high tunnel? If so how big. I will start seed in 2-3 weeks in the greenhouse.
