I think shredded leaves/newspaper that is sprayed with water to make it nice and damp and then mixed with the poo would work ok. I have had composting worms for at least 12 years with no problems arising. As long as they are kept in a cool spot out of the cold wind and sun, and are fed and kept moist they seem to do just fine.

Shredded paper, leaves, old straw/hay, and you can mix some dirt in as well..Then the rabbit poo, or ANY kind of manure you can get.

I'd set the rabbit cages right over the top of the worm bed to save the trouble of moving it.

Mine is just outside the chicken coop, I open a small door on the coop, and shove straight into the bed.

Bed is approximately 4x10, built of 4" block, double wall with a layer of 1" foam between to help keep the ground temp up a bit in the winter.

lots of good worm info here: http://www.redwormcomposting.com/

On my last farm, 18 years ago, I had several worm bins going. It is fun and easy. When I move onto my farm full time at the end of this year, I'll have worm bins again.

You don't need to buy anything except for maybe starter worms if your locale doesn't offer them in the wild. There are dozens...?hundreds? of approaches to how to operate bins and reduce labor. And lots of people will be happy to sell you fancy equipment. But to get stared, all you have to have is a place to put food scraps, bedding (leaves, torn up newspaper, chopped straw, any carbonaceous type material) water, and worms.

Red wigglers like it damp but not wet. Most any chopped food wastes serves as feed but avoid oils and citrus. Worms climb up so add fresh bedding and food to the top of the bin. My bins had hardware cloth bottoms that allowed worm dirt to fall thru, but since the worms crawl up as long as they are not going into the light, I didn't loose many worms out the bottom.

Ohh..and don't forget to give them your compostable kitchen scraps, lettuce, banana peels, etc. They devour that stuff.
