ford 8N question

saw an ad an craigslist for a Ford 8N tractor with backhoe and bucked, all runs (per ad) best offer. What would be a fair offer? I've seen them for sale in my area that looked prettier based strictly on pictures, but without the attachments for $1000-2000. Not sure what they actually sold for.

Scrap price. If somebody's been running a loader and backhoe on it chances are it's been badly abused

I wouldn't touch it. 8n doesn't have the power or strength to handle those pieces, and is most likely worn out. I've got an 8n, and the box blade & grading blade are about all it can handle.

Most those old backhoes had either a front mounted hyd. pump or a pto mounted pump to operate the backhoe . If the pump works good and the legs will pick the tractor rear clear off the ground it should dig right good . All the tractor does is move it from point a to b . Lots better than a shovel for sure .

If it were cheap enough ,and I needed a lot of digging I would get it and should it blow up later one could get most of their money back at the scrap yard . I ran an old Long 4x4 tractor with a loader in the woods a few years then scrapped it as I stripped the gears out of the front end .

I'ld offer $800-$1200 and be prepared to rebuild the engine & likely the hydraulic pump.

My sentiments also. I wouldn't think a 8N would work a back hoe. How wides the bucket??

Round mn area and all the farmers you can actually find good 2n/8n/9n ford tractors with attachments for under 1500$ and H series wide front tractors cheap. I learned a lot since I posted a thread asking bout it. You will get people saying there bad or good and go spend 5000$ on one etc etc.... and some are very strong opinionated on the subject. From videos I watched before the 8n can handle the attachments that were made for it. Might need to replace or rebuild pump if its original but heck its old lol
