Well Questions

Hello

Have been searching the forum and found a little info but thought I would post a question...

Well is 300 feet deep, around 10 years old and has not been used on a regular basis for the past 3 years. I am there once a week and run the water. Property is on top of a hill.

The water runs very muddy every time I cut it on, it is worse the first time I turn it on but will always be a little muddy every time I cut it on. Eventually it clears but will be muddy again when cut back on. Cracked casing has been suggested. I have also been told I should raise the pump a little bit as it is stirring mud every time I cut it on.

Currently I am running a hose directly from the pump, I plan to plumb the house this spring.

Any ideas or suggestions would be appreciated.

Thanks

I'd try lifting the pump a couple feet as suggested. If you still have the problem, then I'd have someone come out and inspect the well casing.

A 300 foot well should run pretty clean..

..............When they drill a new well in tx they let it run for 24 hrs to clean itself up ! You might let it run over night and see how the discharge looks in the AM . , fordy

I agree with this but I would save the water.
Every 55 gallon drum, 500 gallon tank, 300 gallon tank and 1000 gallon tank I have would be used.
If that doesn't do it then raise the pump the four feet or a bit more.
