Mercury in Retrograde

Mercury rises every 11 years, then goes back. The next few weeks are supposed to be a bad time to start things and will be chaotic economically. I was advised to hold off on my web store until Mercury is finished dancing. I'm not really into astrology, but I believe we do react to the moon (like the tides) and I'm game for Mercury. It will be alright, I'll just spend more time researching and putting my plans together.

I know some people don't make a move without consulting their astrologer, I'm not one of them.

Mercury has an orbit that is only 88 days. The idea of it moving "backwards" (retrograde) in relation to a viewer on Earth is MUCH more common than once every eleven years.

Its period of retrograde motion as seen from Earth can vary from 8 to 15 days on either side of inferior conjunction.

IIRC, there is a solar cycle influenced by Jupiter that is ~ eleven years. (Jupiter is the only planet with significant enough mass to influence the sun in any significant way).

Could anyone rationally explain how a planets motion can affect a web store (or anything else in anyone's life)?

I can't come up with a rational explanation for half of what I see on the internet so the planet's motions are as good a theory for me as most of the other ones.

It effects electronics, among other things. It is associated with chaos. Doesn't mean Dawn of the Dead, just that it ultimately will effect economics.

My mother did astrology since she was a teenager. I was never around when someone gave her their birth date that they weren't shocked afterwards by what she told them. Like anything, the devil is in the details. Towards the end of her life, it freaked her out too.

I respect their thoughts and opinion, but I would like the rational behind their theory.

So far one person has claimed electrical activity, but Mercury does not have any electrical activity to impact anything on this planet.
I am certainly willing to listen to anything rational but I am not going to accept things that do not exist as "proof"

It gets the chupacabras all fired up and they shoot death rays out of their eyes at the sun which causes solar flares and screws up the internet.

How do you not know this?!

It is the dawning of the age of Aquarius.

Oh, sorry, I'm 45 years behind or ahead of myself. Or yourselves. Carry on.

Maura, Mercury goes Retrograde 3 or 4 times a year every year. This year it will be retrograde 3 times but it isn't in Retrograde yet. It's presently Direct in a mentally stimulating sign until January 30th, so the next few days are still a really good time to develop plans for future endeavours. Mercury will be going Retrograde from February 6th until February 27th and that period will be a time of mental sluggishness for business plans, potential confusion and economic delays of all manner so that is the time to lay low and not develop or initiate any serious economic plans.

That particular period of retrograde coming up next is however going to be a very great time to party and make merry with many good friends so have some fun while you wait for Mercury to go Direct again.

After February 28th it will go Direct again and will stay Direct until June 6th so that 3 month period (March, April, May) will be an excellent time for initiating your plans. On June 7th it goes Retrograde again until June 30th. On July 1st it goes Direct again and will stay Direct until October 3rd. Retrograde again from October 4th to October 24th and then Direct again until sometime in late January 2015, I don't know the exact dates for 2015 as I don't have the 2015 ephemeris calendar yet. The ephemeris calendar for 2015 is probably available to find on internet so if you know how to read an ephemeris you could try that.

What you are asking for and the way you are asking for it can't be done. It's like if a pre-teen kid was to ask a neurosurgeon to give the kid a half hour crash course in neurosurgery so that the kid could perform a successful brain surgery on his mother the next day.

The rationale behind astrology doesn't get explained in a few brief minutes on an internet discussion board and there are no crash courses. Astrology is the oldest science in the world, many, many thousands of years old and practised all over the world by all cultures. It is a science that takes a lifetime of teaching, studying and learning. It is the science of "passage of time" and is time-consuming, it's taught by teachers and is learned by the dedicated student over the course of months just for the student to grasp some of the bare basics and it requires continued learning over the course of many years to gain a fuller understanding and knowledge of the science. The knowledgeable astrologer knows that he never stops learning or teaching new things about astrology, it's a life-long study and practise with new things to learn every month and every year.

Throughout history the most successful heads of state, religious leaders and wealthiest businessmen have always had their own private astrologers to council them because they didn't have the time to learn about the intricacies of the science for themselves. So seriously, if you want to understand the rationale behind astrology you need to find teachers, be dedicated to devoting much time and studying, be willing to take courses and be prepared to pay money for the learning of it. Just like if you were a student who decides he wants to become a neurosurgeon - you have to go to school and dedicate yourself to years of studying and learning the necessary skills.

As far as I'm concerned:

If they work, horoscopes are satanic.
If they don't work (more likely), they are for the soft-headed and gullible.

Something that happens every 11 years is the opposite of chaos.
