question about wood burning stove

the door on my stove has a braided gasket , the top part tends to fall down and not stay in its groove, is there a glue or something i can do to keep it in place?

I've purchased the gasket material and adhesive at Tractor Supply. You can buy each separately or together as a kit.

I own a Chimney service in NC and for about $10 you can get a new fiberglass gasket kit for your door. Rutland makes most of the commercial products and you should be able to find rgem pretty easy at local hardware stores. Make sure you know what size you need cause that can be a real pain. i.e. 5/8" round, 5/8" flat, 1/2" round etc etc.... Make sure you get all the previous adhesive off the door before you out the new gasket cement on or it will not hold and you will be back at square one. To clean it out good I take the door off and wire wheel the groove out.

Enjoy your fire!!!!

I've picked up the Rutland at the local Ace Hardware. Good stuff.

We used to use waterglass to glue those back in.......can't rememmber the chemical name for it, but it was good stop-leak for cars, and it's the stuff they fix windshield chips with. Old timey drug stores stocked it, and it waw cheap-......Joe

Mine done that once. I mixed up some J.B. Weld and glued it back on. Worked fine for me.

I bought both my gaskets, and the gasket glue from these people. It has worked well and is durable.

Note that the gasket is woven glass rope that stretches and contracts with tension. If the gasket is a little too thick, just stretch it out. If thin, compress it a little length-wise.
