Who here lives in Oregon?

Just wondering how many homesteaders here are from my home state of Oregon. Happy New Year by the way!

I logged in and this was the first post I saw today! I am visiting Oregon (just spent 3 hrs in the dark though near Portland... was not fun... drove from Tillamook..... I am too old to be driving in the dark in unknown places LOL

I am wondering where is a good cost of living place, not to far removed... boy was it a winding drive to Tillamook on the route we took..

Open to suggestions of where I should look.

As our former governor Tom McCall said “We want you to visit our State of Excitement often. Come again and again. But for heaven’s sake, don’t move here to live. Or if you do have to move in to live, don’t tell any of your neighbors where you are going.”

In the hills of Columbia County, at the edge of the outback yet only 30 minutes from Portland -- the best of both worlds.

maybe describe a bit more of what you are looking for (here or in a new thread) - job requirements, size of parcel, climate, general size of nearest population center, raw land vs existing home, etc...

Originally it was a summer place to get away. I am drawn to the ocean. It was cheap and close, easy to get to from the Valley. Neat little harbor, we can see whales near every day. There is nothing to keep a person except what God put here. Basically it is a wide spot in the road to try and grab some of the tourists money. Use to have a neat little Aquarium....James

Did you take hwy 6 east to 26 and into Portland? Did you stop at the logging museum? Did you go to the Tillamook Creamery and the Jerky Factory?

East side of Jackson County.

Happy New Year to you all as well on this beautiful sunny Sunday!

Skittles2u - Oregon is a vast state with so many different climates with varying cost of living. If you don't want to be "very far removed" your only choice is the NW part of the state which is also the priciest.

Hi Guys,
We're 20 miles east of Albany, Linn County. Prices here for land are not cheap in my opinion, but I understand folks moving from California are used to higher prices, so it looks better to them.
We have good, large parcels available and very nice farmland, but not a lot of jobs to support the mortgage.
You can go online to johnlscott.com and click onto the map area you want to look in. It's a nice website for wishing and includes properties listed by other real estate companies too.

We're in Lincoln County. Oregon truly has something for everyone from the ocean to the mountains and from forest to desert.

DH has grandparents in Mount Angel, other relatives in Silverton (he was born there), and Salem. We live just across from Hood River, in WA...the Columbia River Gorge.
