Tanned deer skin?

I have a tanned deer skin with hair still on the hide. It is very nice hide but was cut to short on one side to use for a deer mount. I was wondering what I should do with it. Has anyone made things from deer hide or does anyone have any suggestions. I archery hunt and thinking of making something that I could use durning hunting.

I don't have any ideas but next time you can put hide in a five gallon bucket of home made lye water "or lime water" to remove the hair and stretch to dry and you have rawhide. Many uses for it around the homestead.

I'm in the process of refinishing a coffee table with a very beat up top. So... I'm looking for a black & white cow hide that I'll cut to fit then cover with glass.

If a quiver is too much work, maybe an alternative like what I'm doing could be an idea.

Thanks and this gives me some ideas. I guess I could make a rug out of it also for the cabin.

You can make gloves with deer hide. Had a pair that lasted a long time for me.

I have a friend that get deer hide gloves very cheap and I get the same deal.
they are available unlined or Thinsulated.
I only have about ten pair and yes they are holding up very well.
I just had a pair inside out because I have a good size box of leather pieces that was free a couple years ago and I am going to start making unlined gloves.

Unfortunately, deer hide does not do well for a carpet or clothing.. best for wall hanging or something like that. The deer hair is hollow and breaks easily. It won't last very long on the floor.

When I had a couple of teenage girls years ago I made each of them a hand warmer thingy. It was just a tube about a foot long or so and big enough around so they could stick their hands in while waiting for the school bus. They loved them.
