Anyone have researched and/or opinions on this non-stick coating? I know the traditional coatings are REALLY bad for your health.

I just got a NuWavePIC magnetic/heat induction cooktop, and the pots have this coating on them.

It is my understanding that ceramic is ok. Also, a quick google search said they don't emit fumes that are harmful to birds like many coatings do.

Don't know about that brand specifically, but several of the well-known natural health doctors promote the ceramic coatings. I'm sure it's at least safer if not completely safe.

Teflon pans are supposed to be essentially phased out by 2015.

I received one of those pans last Christmas. The first few times I used it was great. But now it sticks and the coating is scratched.

Once upon a time Heroin was marketed as a cure for Morphine addiction (Heroin is a registered trademark of Bayer Corp.)

With as safe and convenient as cast iron is, why use anything else?

I've been using the green ceramic skillets for a couple of years. DO NOT SCRUB THEM. Mine still work fine.

Since Teflon is being phased out, the new names in coatings are suppose to be acceptable. The ceramic ones need careful handling because the finish will crack, encouraging sticking. You can use release spray on the ceramic finishes. I just love induction cooking, especially for cheese making...got the pots that heat up the sides to maintain consistent temperature. But, the best and most used cookware in our kitchen is still cast iron. Works fantastic for induction and keeps the iron levels up, especially good for vegans.

I have had a couple of ceramic coated frypans for over a year. I like them. I do not EVER scrub them - let them cool down some then use paper towel to gently wipe them clean. If there are any sort of scraps of food that have fried hard, I spray the pan interior with hot water to remove them before wiping with the paper towel. Mine are still pristine, even though they get quite a lot of use.
