Homesteading Community?

Are there any known places/ towns with a growing homesteading community?

Or a community doing Group Buys on Larger properties that would normally be difficult for individuals to purchase, then splitting up the parcels to like minded Homesteading enthuasiasts?

Im looking for 25-50 acres in a Friendly Homesteading Neighborhood.

Any Suggestions would be much appreciated.

The larger a parcel is, generally the lower the price/acre will be.

We bought two parcels with a total of 150 acres, for very reasonable price/acre.

I recommend that you avoid the drought-prone regions of the the nation.

Try these folks: http://www.americanredoubtrealty.com/

If they don't have what you're looking for, they can probably send you the right direction.

What price range were you looking for with 25-50 acres?

Umm, you could be wrong: http://www.americanredoubtrealty.com/buyers.html

I notice a little ethnicity in the picture on their "buyers" page.

If you run that through "Google Photo" that is a STOCK photo and not a family that lives there!

Not to get into a big argument, but if they were looking to sell only to "rich, white folks" most likely they wouldn't have an advertisement showing a mixed race family.

The whole "American Redoubt" concept has often been misrepresented, mainly by liberals offended by it's originator's strong Christian beliefs. There is no specific Redoubt, only a region of the country believed by some to be a good place to retreat to, or homestead in, during what some think are troubling times ahead. People with strong independent spirit, of any religion or race, have been encouraged to move there.

I have no connection to the real estate company, but know of them through following http://www.survivalblog.com/, and when the OP asked for recommendations I was merely trying to help.

If you don't have to live near your job you have a lot more options. We've got a small farm for sale down the road from us. I'd get it if I didn't already have one!

Shop around in Flyover country... A lot of very rural areas and counties in PA, WV, southern VA, IN, OH and such places are mostly made up of people who work hard, raise livestock, love to hunt, and small town festivals..

We didn't go looking for a homesteading community, but the area we bought in has many people who believe in living with what they have, and raising what they need, and helping out their neighbors..

There's a lot more of that in the US than people would imagine..

I'm sure you could find a lot of the same things in out of the way places in the west to, like CO, ID, WY, WA and similar.. You just have to get way out away from big cities..

No comment of the stock images used on that website, but the one real person in one of their photos is a kid picking her butt! Maybe I'm immature, but I giggled.
