Rain barrel question

Sorry if this has been posted and talked about before but my search didn't find anything so here goes. I want to install about 4-5 rain barrels and link them together with a filter. I have seen them linked together but not with a filter so I am wondering if anyone on here has any suggestions as far as filter types/styles and size. Thanks

What do you want to filter out? As it comes into the barrels?

Either in or out we want to use the water in our washing machine. I plan on having some type of screen coming into the barrel but I am thinking a about filtering it a little more

Where are you at? Hot sun? How big of barrels? 55 gallon. Will you pump the water, what will you use? You will probably need a screen or filter before the pump. T screen or outlets off the bottom of the barrels. Filter takes more upkeep.

May want to follow this thread, doing same as you, don't know about washing machine though....James

A roof washer is a device (mine are homemade) to divert the first few gallons of dirty water so it doesn't get in you collection barrels.

Google: rainwater harvesting roof washer

There are a ton of them out there commercial and homemade. Easy to make out of PVC pipe.

We had a flap in our Down Spout to let water on to the Ground washing the Roof, then turning it back to run into the cistern.
