Where to find OLD STYLE Christmas lites

Im looking for the old style, pointy tipped with ribbed sides. The ones where if one goes out, all go out

Indoor or outdoor? We have a couple hardware type stores up here that sell the old style bulbs as well as LED lights that look like the old style but are more energy efficient.

That's easy, just look for a store that still sells lead tinsel........

Wouldn't it just be easier to scrap your old strings and spring for some safe LED's that look like the old style?

That's easy...my mother has a shed with totes full of them. I don't know why she hasn't thrown them out...maybe memories...but she did switch over to the "newer" ones a few years back..now she loves the "icicle" ones.

Sure wish I could find the old lights. They're great for keeping fruit tree blossoms from freezing in a late frost.
The same with the old 100 watt light bulbs - They giveoff just enough heat in my pump house in the winter.

For every upside there's a downside.

FBB,

I know the type you mean. I HAD some, but believe they are all gone now. They won't be in many stores, if any. Best bet to find them would be estate sales, auctions, and maybe, thrift stores. If looking for them at estate sales, best bets for finding would be boxes in the basement, garage, or attic. If at auction, they'll be in the big box going for "one money".

Unless they have become collector's items, in which case they will be extremely expensive, or be used in cutesy artsy type things.

Reasons I like them
#1 I see no sense in buying new lights when I MAY NEVER set up another tree, BUT THEN, Maybe I will.
#2 They remind me of when I was a kid. Rerplaceing them with something new would make the lights something impersonal, and when it comes to Christmas, I wanrt to remember anything oldtime in my family, and they act as promps, ESPECALLY
#3 I like them cause, when one goes out, you have to deal with the tree and the lights to get it fixed. It causes one to remember the trees there, and to take a close look at it from time to time. IF none went out, one would set up the tree, and just give it passing glances, and then even possibly forget its in the room. It would become like the TV. We paid much more attention to the actual box of the TV when we had to constantly adjust it than I think we do now. Now, we just hone in on the picture. Weve taken the precision of the TV for granted. And WERE ALL glad for that.

Try http://www.christmaslightsetc.com/

might not be exactly what you're looking for, but I've bought a number of outdoor, incandescent C-9 strings and they're great.

Have you tried Craigslist? You could post an ad asking for some.

We're on the same page. We have many of the old fashioned lights and strings. And bubbledy lights and now-scruffy looking angel tree toppers All inherited from our elders. We are blessed. Over the years we've probably replaced all the bulbs several times, each year they're harder to find. Last year in October we asked our local Ace Hardware manager to see if he could special order them. He did I'm sure it's too late for that this year, but maybe you could ask in time for next year?

I googled c-6 christmas lights, and here's the Results:

I think it's wonderful that you feel the memories of Christmases past in your tree. Good to know we're not alone. Wishing you a Blessed Christmas

In His Love
Mich

In April and October, there is a 10 day long antique and junk show that takes over 3 tiny towns near Brenham, TX.

There are several people there that have the old timey decorations, tinsels, lights and such. There is at least on that has a very large tent with nothing but this stuff. I saw these lights still in the original boxes. We have only been to one town, so I am sure there are more.

We'll be going again in April and I would be more than happy to get some for you. I know that wont do you any good this year, but there is always next.

We like the old stuff as well. And plan to get a bunch more for our house.

Sounds good Bobby. Please let me know in March to remind me again, and that will give me time to have the money ready. I dont want you to have to wait a minute for it.
Dont suppose you got a ballpark of whey they might run?

Even if you don't plan to use them this year, best to start looking to stock up now. 2014 marks the time when sales of existing inventories are still legal, but further manufacture of incandescent bulbs is banned. Several websites I've read say "don't worry, they'll be available for awhile," but I'm not sitting back and believing that.
