Talking North Florida / Panhandle Small Farm

I live in Orlando currently and am considering moving further north to a more rural area. I want to stay in Florida if possible, but would like some rolling hills without harsh winters. So, I think the northern-most part of Florida might be nice. Any advice on a good area to start looking? I want between 20-50 acres. My intent is to raise animals just for my family and enjoy the country life. Proximity to a large city is not required. Ideally, I would be in an area with good soil, access to water and surrounded by other small farmers. I want to avoid high crime and pollution as much as possible. Is there any such place or am I just dreaming?

There are many places available in Jefferson County around Monticello. I am NE of Havana on 5 acres but looking at larger plots. As far as soil fertility, you are going to have to check the individual properties as there can be white sand and 10 feet away good black loam. This area is very small farm friendly and has that small town feel to it.

Good luck in your search. If you end up near Tallahassee and decide to raise goats, I am sure our paths will cross at some point
