I could not find the second part, I wanted to see his spring box and what else he did to improve the spring. He said he would rather have it than a well, don't know about that for potable water. My problem with his spring (from what I saw) was it is right in the bottom of the draw, all the surface water runs right there too. Great for a emergency supply but not really a potable water source. If off to the side or dug in deep and filled with gravels to filter it could be potable water. Could be tested I suppose after a rain event to see if it was good then.
I have a good spring, it will free flow a 2" pipe all summer, it even runs a water baby generator. It is 6' deep, 20' long pipe with a sock, backfilled with pea gravel, as good as a well....James
