Do they still have a belt that makes it spin? I washed a blanket and it won't spin, it make a noise that sounds like a plastic gear slipping or grinding.

What brand, model? You can look them up online and find a schematic for the model you have, even go online and talk to people with that model and find out what is wrong....James

Front loader and "regular" washers that I have had to tear apart all had belts. Could be the transmission on it broke.

A belt is not too hard to replace - had to do it and the guy was so nice, he drew a diagram along with hints how to make the job easier. Wish I could remember the hints for you...
