Bloody butcher corn

Based on recommendations from people on here, I bought 100 high priced Bloody Butcher corn seeds and planted them this summer. The plants yielded well. I don't think we tried any as fresh corn but may have. I gathered dry corn, shelled it, and ground it in my hand grinder. It made very tasty grits(pause so people outside the South can look horrified) and tried some cornbread tonight(no pics). Cornbread was gray with red flakes from the outside of the corn. Tasted fine. LOML says she wants to tweak the recipe some.
Ears were medium length, but this was too unusual a year to make any judgments about size, etc.

DH and I just got done shelling the 2 rows of corn we planted and harvested. Got about 1/2 a 5 gallon bucket. I ground some earlier to try in cornbread. It was great. I will have to try it as corn meal mush soon.

I planted some a few years ago and it grew much better than the sweet corn I planted that same year. Never did get to grind any and eat it myself (no grinder), but my chickens loved it. Unfortunately so did the coons that discovered where I was storing it, lol.

Is it sweet or dent? Open-pollinated or hybrid?

Open pollinated dent. I didn't get around to trying enough as fresh corn to get a firm opinion as to sweetness.
