Let's Take Care of Our Own

As Minelson pointed out in Countryside Families, South Dakota is devastated. The blizzard that hit when the cattle herds were out on Summer pasture killed tens of thousands of cattle - at the worst possible time of the production season.

The pictures of the dead animals are heartrending. (see pics at this thread: South Dakota needs help! )

Knowing that this will bankrupt many of the ranchers makes me angry, but also moved Nick and me to do something about it.

There's no government to help, but we can still take care of each other.

If you also feel moved to help, please go to this site to donate for these ranchers in South Dakota.

https://www.giveblackhills.org/27677

Don't give until it hurts. Give until it feels good.

It's interesting that this came up this morning. I just got finished reading an article by Lassiez Faire Today about taking care of our own with out the goobermint's "help". If we stop waiting for the thugs who stole our paychecks to help these folks out, and instead use what little they've left us to STILL do what people used to do before the fed thugs usurped our responsibility and turned us into dependent children, we may grow to realize we don't need them, and never did. We only need to continue to do that which we were called to do from the beginning, and sod their 'help'. If we sit back and wait for 'someone else' to take care of it, we may have a good long wait.

I have been searching for ways to help and every thing I find points to this for the spot to make donations. All the local news stations post this website along with the Cattlemen's Association has posted it for donations. They also posted an address.

Hope this helps...

If you click on the "About" button, you will find information on the Black Hills Area Community Foundation.

The American Public gave MILLIONS to Haiti when they needed it(and no doubting they did have it worse, because they lost so many people in addition to homes)... there's no reason why the public couldn't help out our own when a natural disaster hits like this blizzard and wipes out so many family's businesses.

Between the floods earlier this year and now this blizzard, I bet beef prices will jump up. And when they do, people will probably blame the ranchers!

I also donated what I could & posted the links on my FB account so those of you wanting to help but maybe don't have any funds right now if you could share the links above or from Minelson's thread in Countryside Families that will also help by getting the word out to more people.

I am so glad that you posted this - I had no idea. I am making a donation and putting it on my FB because I'm sure many people don't know about it.
