Mushroom ID question

I know we have a forum for this but these are fresh, and that forum has low traffic. I found some mushrooms I have never seen before. I believe that they may be a fairy ring mushroom. I found them on a well maintained lawn. They were in a circle, white caps, pink/lavender gills, with a ring around the stems.

Don't worry, I'm not going to eat them on just one recommendation, but it would be nice to have a direction to go on an internet search. Any help much appreciated!

After searching the interwebz I have identified them as " Agaricus campestris," also known as the "meadow mushroom", not to be confused with the "meadow muffin" which not being poisonous, is also not very tasty.

Pink gills; check
White cap; check
Doesn't turn yellow when bruised; check
Brown spore print; Check
Delicate ring; check

They are closely related to the common button mushroom seen in grocery stores. If you don't hear from me in the next couple of days something went tragically wrong...........

We always found lots of these in the pasture this time of year (on a good year). They are the first mushroom I learned to identify growing up. I like them dusted in a little flour and pan fried whole in butter with just salt and pepper. Yum!

Were they in a ring?

I've seen rings 30-40' in diameter and have read that they form rings of 2,000' in diameter. The ring continues to expand.

Yes, they were in a ring. I've always heard of "fairy ring" mushrooms but have never seen them before. I saw them from the road on the public golf course. Thought they were puff balls, that is why I stopped. Picked them anyway and figured I'd do a little research.

There is a wonderful facebook group that identifies mushrooms. I think I got it off these forums, at some point, actually. I use it just to see whether or not they are poisonous to my kids and animals since we have quite a few that grow on our property. That way I can get rid of them if they are harmful!

Might wanna check them out for future reference!

tinkla-Just so you know you can also eat puffball. Find them fresh and white. When you cut it open if it is white it's ok,if it is kind of stained yellow it's getting old. May still be ok but i've never eqten them at that stage.

Puffballs are the first wild mushrooms I ever gathered and ate.

I'm pretty sure I've got Honey mushrooms growing in my yard now. A friend is going to stop over today to ID them.

A caution for those not familiar with puffballs. Slice it in half top to bottom and look at the interior. If you see a "T" shape in the white meaty part, do not eat it. It may well be an unopened Amanita. Deadly.

Mushrooms in my search area are not doing well this year, (as well as my cabbages, beans, peppers and beets). I usually get a pile of Hen-of-the-Woods, Slippery Jacks and Shaggy Manes. This year, nothing.

Chanterelles are out here in abundance. We also pick Lobsters, Shaggy Manes, Shaggy Parasols, Shrimp, King Boletes, and other varieties, too.

when I was a littly tyke still, my Dad taught us 19 different edible mushrooms. Six of them I have found here. No King Boletus , sob.
If you cut into a puff ball, it should be the spitten image consistency of a marshmallow. Like already mentioned, it should be pure white.
thanks tinknal. I headed straight for the woods and came home with a bucket of chicken of the woods. We had some for lunch and gave some away to two parties. Still have some over, and I did not even go to the other side of the woods. will do so tomorrow.

Does anyone take the Russula types? Our favorite of all.

They are almost worth moving back north for. Florida is a terrible place for mushroom picking.
