pioneer maid oven

Fi ally got a cool enough day to try firing up the pioneer maid stove for the 1st time. I thought there was so my andle or something you turned or pulled or something to get the heat to circulate around the oven? Was I wrong? Anyone know how to do it? Anybody have any hints of tips for using one?

Not sure, we have a country charm, there is little nob on the side of it. We pull that out and it puts more heat around the oven

I'm just a little bit envious.

There are 2 wood knobs on the side, but I can't seem to pull them out or push them in. They turn but it more like a threaded rod that is unscrewing. Doesn't seem to do anything. I don't know if they are not working right or what

Is this a newer stove? If so, you may be able to search for a user's manual. Try to find a model # along with Pioneer Maid brand name. Don't use google, your every move is tracked... I use Duck, Duck, Go...

kwagner21, we have the pioneer maid. You should have a rod with a handle at the back of the stove (left side.) It slides in and out. Push it in - toward the stovepipe-to circulate the heat around the oven.

The two knobs on the side are threaded and turning them clockwise will shut off the air going into the firebox.

Don't forget to scrape the top of the oven every so often as ash collects there and can act as an insulator, preventing the oven getting as hot as it should.

Be careful and don't build up too big of a fire at first. Our oven can get up over 500F real quick. Start small and keep an eye on things.

Hope that helps. I LOVE my pioneer maid!

thank you. I had found a manual of some sort online, but it didn't help any. just said there was something that allowed the air to flow. failed to say where it was though! of course that means I started the fire yesterday without any air going to the firebox... could explain why it was a bit of a pain to get started.

You'll soon become familiar with it kwagner21. Once we fire ours up for the winter I pretty much forget we have the electric stove. I find it much easier to cook on.

kwgner21 I contacted Lehman's and they sent me a pdf manual for your stove. If you are interested let me know. I can give you my e-mail if you are so I can send it to you.

I have the phone number for the guys who build the thing but I'd have to dig it out. Let me know if it gets that far.
