Farm Science Review - Ohio

Anybody else been/going? I went yesterday. I should have asked in advance but forgot - life has been hectic lately.

Bought 5 Dawn Redwood seedlings and filled a large bag with literature, schwag, etc.

How much is admission this year?

I would like to go but with the Pork Festival coming up this weekend I don't know if I'll get there.

I drove by yesterday when the dang freeway was shut down from the accident. I sat in traffic for over an hour and really thought about just pulling in! LOL Haven't been since high school.....

FarmChix, I think you are talking about the accident on Eastbound 70 Tuesday. That was really nasty. The semi was across all the lanes with the cab on the median grass. The car wasn't even recognizable as a car. I passed it going Westbound about 9:15 or so. Traffic was backed up for miles.

Danaus29, tickets at the gate are $10 (sorry for the delayed response).

That's the one! Made for a mIsErAbLe commute! did you enjoy the Review? They were doing something with John Deere--kind of like competitions--a few weeks ago. It looked interesting!

FarmChix, must have been this one:

Tuesday was a bad traffic day.

Mike, no problem. I don't consider that much of a delay. I could have googled but my mind was elsewhere. Thanks.

FarmChix,

I enjoyed the review but didn't see everything (for example the nature center area that you had to take the shuttle to). I'm still recovering from my broken leg (+torn tendon and ligaments) so I was pretty tired after walking the main area.

I didn't really look at the tractors/equipment much as we bought a Kioti in 2011. I was looking for a vendor that has been there (but wasn't this year) selling portable sawmills. I was also looking at log splitters but there were less of those being shown.

All the seed companies showing are hybrid and we only plant heirloom so I walked by their displays. I grabbed a couple of sheets off the boards in the small farm area. We want to expand our planting of hops and try to sell to some of the local breweries.

Other than that it was just fun to take a day and play hooky. I wish there was more for small farmers/homesteaders but it was still fun. It would be even more fun if we could coordinate a get together in conjunction with it. We haven't had an Ohio get together in a while. Maybe we should do one in Kidron. In the past we have had some at Das Dutch Kitchen or at Lehmans.

Mike
