Mower Blades

I’m mad and happy at the same time. I have a Bad Boy Zero Turn mower. The only place to buy the blades was from Tractor Supply. Checked internet for possible aftermarket blades and couldn’t find any, called Bad Boy and they said had to use the Bad Boy Blades. The blades were like 70 bucks a set. Took the mower to have the blades sharpened, and sure enough they were worn out again. Called Tractor Supply and no blades in stock. Called my local hardware store and asked if I could bring in a blade and try to match it, worth a try right. The guy at the store asked what mower. I told him. Without hesitation he asked, 48 in or 52 in? I said 48 and he quickly said that it was a number 3403, that 3404 was for the 52 inch. Said he has lots of them. Fits the Sagg and Bad Boy brands. I get there and yes they will fit. Much thicker and cuts like a hot knife through butter. $8.49 a blade. I’m happy that I found cheap replacement blades and ticked off that I’ve been paying tractor supply so much for blades.

$8.49 per blade.... that is amazingly inexpensive. Good for you. I charge $5 to sharpen them.

I know. I bought 3 extra sets and put them away. I take the mower to a guy in our town that has a small engine place. It was an old service station and he has a lift he has rigged for mowers. I just put it on the trailer, haul it there, it goes on the lift and he sharpens all three blades for 10 bucks.
