Having poor luck with Tattererl lids

Tattler lids, dad burn it......finger got away from me.

Anyone else have a large degree of failure to seal? WE are doing everything according to directions. Smooth jar mouths, clean jar mouths, backed off lid 1/4" then into the pressure cooker. 10 minutes at 10 lbs. 30-40 % failure rate.

Are we doing something wrong?

Are you tightening the rings when you take them out? We weren't, and had the same problems. Now we love them. By the way, they've changed their tightening instructions away from 1/4" to "finger tight" as some people were backing them off 1/4 turn.

Also, make sure the head space is correct per instructions. Just because the liquid level is 1", or 1/4" the head space isn't correct if something like green beans are sticking above the liquid level. Head space is important because you only want vapor escaping, not liquid that could keep the rubber seal from sealing during the cooling process.

Hope this helps.

I use Tattler lids and love them. When putting the lid on just put ring on until it will turn the jar on the counter then process. After processing remove jars and tighten lids tightly. I have used approximately 150 lids this year with about 3 not sealing. Hope this helps....

We found there is a significant amount of practice that goes into getting it right with these darn thing but once you get it down they are wonderful. Here's what we experienced:
