Saw some great working dogs this weekend

Went to the terrier trials (Jack Russels) in Sommerset WI this weekend. Saw some great Racing dogs, lure coursing, go-to-ground, barn hunt. I showed my dog "Bodie". Saturday was hot and I made the mistake of lure coursing first. After that his heart just wasn't in it. Much better today, cooler. He did well in go-to-ground and actually placed in lure coursing. He also won a minor conformation class. Fun weekend. The best part is I came home with two females. I bought a 2 year old girl and the owner is downsizing and gave me a six year old who has had several good litters. I actually like the older dog better. I can tell already she is a hunting fiend. She is tiny and will be great hunting small holes.

No pics of my own but the show has a FB page and I'm sure there will be pics there. I'll link it when it shows up.

Mines fired up treeing squirrels every time I let him loose. He's gotta wait till the season opens in Oct before I can shoot some out. He did tree a coon around my sweetcorn patch back in July and I shot it out.He liked shaking it.

My catahoula won 3rd place in 2 dog bay in Monett, MO. He's the blue merle dog on the right so I know how you feel. He's a working dog 100%. I just need to get him work in the woods though.

We recently inherited a rather old, not-very-well-bred JR... even so, he's true to the beed personality and my daughter calls him "that Jack Russell Terror." I can't imagine having 3 healthy younger ones!

Tinknal,
I'm glad you had fun at the show, but now don't you have a hole to dig.

I used to compete with my JRTs in terrier trials. It was such a blast!

Congratulations on your win, and I bet you had a great time. I have watched some trials here and there - the dogs always look as if they are having a blast! A friend does lure-coursing with her whippets and you can tell they really enjoy it and when I went to a Yorkie Nationals a few years ago they had earth-dog trials. It was rather amazing to see those little foo foo dogs show that they really ARE terriers.
