What's the value of this tractor?

First, I don't know much about the model but I think the year is a 2001/2002.

There are 321 hours on it. It comes with a tiller, front loader, 54 inch mower.

My SO's uncle doesn't want it anymore-or so he says. He doesn't *need* it-so he thinks he wants to sell it to us. He paid $6k for it 2nd hand 11 year ago and did some tweaking and I think he bought the attachments separately.

I can't find anything on the model other than the "475" which is apparently the front loader. It's diesel and has a clutch....and that's about all I know.

Anyone have any clue what a fair price is? Family discount or not ... Just looking for a ballpark.

Thanks!

...............The hours aren't bad at all , I'd say it's value is $4,800 to $5,500 easily ! Esp. since it has a FE loader and it's 4x4 , A new diesel lawn tractor will easily run $10,000 to $12,000 . You need to make sure the clutch is in good shape , i.e. NO Slippage......, fordy

The market for small compact tractors is huge and anything in that condition and diesel with a front loader will bring good money ! try " tractor data .com " there has to be a serial # and model number somewhere or call the local Cub cadet dealer for an estimate ,believe me they would love to have it on their lot for sale in the $5-$7,500.00 dollar Range if it's 4 wheel drive and $5,000.00 if it's 2 wheel drive could go higher depending on what attachments you have for it ? Tiller ad $1,000.00 /box blade ad $300. /grader blade ad $100/mower deck ad $500 / etc etc etc looks in great shape ,the loader on it is worth $1,500.00 alone ... he got a great deal years ago

Find out who actually made it GOOGLE it. I work in a small shop. MTD makes cubs lawn mowers. But I do agree 300 hours is real low. Looks great. With attchments listed 10,000 - 11,000 wouldn't surprise me here in va.

The model # ans SN should be either under the seat or on a riveted tag on the LH side under the hood at the back on the tower. It should be easy to find.

As those blades of Grass is a MTD Trade Mark.

I'm not good at evaluating the little fellas, but it looks in nice condition from a picture.

It is useful with the loader if it is 20hp or more, it is a little bit more of a toy - a useful one but more of a toy - if it is in that 16 hp range. I guess, that would be the difference to me between a $10,000 machine or a $3000 machine....... the bigger hp will have a stronger frame and drivetrain, etc.

One minor concern I would have, it appears to have real tractor tires on the back, and turf style front tires? On a 4wd tractor you need to have the tire sizes matched up, so the front wheels pull just 2-3% more than the rear wheels do. Its complicated mumbo jumbo, but the gears and shafts inside are happy if the front wheels pull a tad more than the rear wheels.

Often you cannot mix real tractor tires with turf tires, as the sizes don't come out right.

So, I would maybe look if the tires are the right size for the proper pull?

Looks like probably a Cub Cadet 7205, around 20hp. Probably worth 8-10,000. Sold for about 14,500 new. Made by Mitsubishi I think, definitely a Mitsubishi engine.

Yanmar has made them the last few years.

One that old? I'm not sure.

Great value. I'd be all over it like a rash, and quick about it too.

One thing - you ought to consider putting a ROPS - roll-over protection scheme - on it; however much that would cost. Basically a U-shaped metal frame over the driver's head, maybe with a shade canopy as well, so they don't get crushed when the vehicle rolls over.

don't you have a ford that you just got running? You may consider getting this one as it may be more useful for your needs.

It appears to be pretty light weight for a tractor, even if it is a heavy duty riding lawn mower with some attachments. Me? I would give maybe 3 or 4 hundred bucks for it.... thats on a day that I happened to have extra money to toss away for toys. Pretty rare days on my farm.

I do but I don't have any attachments and don't know how to get them. Its so old and I don't have the time to learn to work it. I learn by being shown and there is no one to show me. Thinking of trading it; our handy man said he would finish off a small room in exchange for it-I'd buy the materials and he'd do the labor as well as install the bathroom. I REALLY want a Mom Cave upstairs more than I want to work that old tractor.

I have to agree with Yvonne's Hubby... That' just an over sized garden tractor to me... It's not a heavy tractor that you could do any actual farm work with.. .

It would be great for a home owner with an acre or two for cutting the grass, and moving some firewood or bricks around with...

I'm not trying to knock it at all, but it is what it is.. it's not what I'd call a farm tractor.. If I had that out on my farm, ,with all the work I've been doing with my tractor, I would have bent that Cub in half by now...

City people tend to pay more for something like that than a country person would...

I would say it is what they call a sub compact. With those hours it is just broke in. Maybe hydrostatic drive ?. Might be just right for a small homestead

John Deere used Yanmar for many years then had a falling out.... then Cub Cadet used Yanmar for a few years and I believe thAt relationship fell through somehow....

I think Yanmar has some in this category and they are solid yellow color and called a Yanmar

OK here you go

A tractor like that is - as already stated - a toy - something to have fun with around the house and small property - I often wonder why people buy something like that - it really isn't the best for anything - even though it does it -

On the ford you have you can find the attachments for it on www.tractorhouse.com If it is an 8n or jubilee size there are videos on youtube showing things they can do. One video shows an 8n running a small baler. The baler it was running was either a new Holland 68 or 268 model.

" It comes with a tiller, front loader, 54 inch mower."
~ drool ~
This would be perfect for a small .5 - 1-2 acre market garden , cleaning out my barn or us it for pasture maintenance , or ........... heck I could think of a thousand uses .

I think YH is lowballing a bit, but from the size (looking at the seat) its a glorified lawn mower. Fine for the hobby farmers; mowing the lawn and moving small amounts of dirt. Since your uncle only had a couple hudred hours on it in over a decade I'm sure it was fine for him, but if you're planning on doing anything heavy with it, forget it. If I wanted it, I'd be thinking about $2000- $3000 including all attachments.

BTW my one experience tilling with something similar, well lets just say was a real tooth loosening/back wrenching event.
